First artists revealed

Carl Cox does Paradiso

When reminiscing about the old days of rave and the first internationally renowned dj’s, Carl Cox is a name that is bound to pop up. The three-deck maestro has seen generations of clubbers come and go, while sustaining his position as one of the world’s top jocks. On Wednesday October 19th – the opening night of the Festival – ‘Coxie’ will do Paradiso, a venue that over the past decades has staged numerous legendary performances, alongside Jon Rundell and Cristian Varela. Rundell and Varela are label mates on Cox’s Intec Records, a household techno imprint.

But Carl is not just visiting Amsterdam to spin some tunes, as he is actively involved in the conference as well. In ‘The (Dance) World According To Carl Cox’, he will talk about life and his career, which should be inspiring to anyone who is into electronic music. ‘The (Dance) World According to…’ concept has been a regular item on the ADE Conference program for the past few years, and was previously hosted by Josh Wink, Steve Schnur, Jeff Mills, Derrick May, and Roger Sanchez. Next to Carl Cox, Mr Cocoon Sven Väth will share his views on life during the ADE 2011 as well.

Plastikman Live 1.5 World Tour & ADE

Richie Hawtin has just announced his brand new Plastikman 1.5 live world tour. The show will hit the ADE on October 21st (Heineken Music Hall). Tickets will be available from July 26 (10.00 am (CEST) via www.livenation.nl  Designed in collaboration with visual architects Derivative Inc., Hawtin's Plastikman live show is an audio-visual spectacle with an interactive edge. The performance debuted at Time Warp in Mannheim in 2010, and has been a fixture of electronic festivals in Europe and North America ever since.

Richie Hawtin: “I'm incredibly excited to finally take Plastikman on its first standalone tour. These dates will represent the last opportunities for fans to catch Plastikman Live in its current form: the 1.5 version of the show we've spent nearly a year of fine-tuning. After that, Plastikman will be returning to the shadows to begin work on a brand new 2.0 concept. The fall tour will be full of surprises, and the performance will continue to be spontaneous and unique for every show – the way I believe live music should be performed in 2011.”

The 2010 version toured around the world, establishing an unrivalled reputation as one of the most spectacular electronic live shows of all time, and quickly united a new generation of music fans with those who had followed the Plastikman project from its groundbreaking innovations in the 1990s. The  Plastikman logo once again has returned to the forefront of the electronic movement as EDM (electronic dance music) fever gripped North America and Plastikman performed acclaimed shows at Electric Daisy Carnival and Canada’s Mutek. In 2010, readers of the largest electronic music portal Resident Advisor voted Plastikman as the ‘number one’ live electronic show of the year.

Hawtin and his team have continued to develop and evolve the show - incorporating brand new Plastikman music, visuals and interactive technologies. The updates of the show have once again been created within Hawtin's fully-collaborative lighting, visual and interactive team: Ali Demirel & Jarrett Smith of Derivative Inc. (TouchDesigner visuals);  Matthias Vollrath (lighting integrations); Jeremy Jacobs (JPLS) & Johannes Kramer (sonic upgrades); and Robert Hexler & Bryan McDade (interactivity). As with all previous dates, Plastikman Live will be fully interactive for any fans with the free SYNK iPhone application, which itself has been relaunched with new features including a live chat, live behind-the-curtain camera feed and more interactive elements, making the show one of the only genuinely interactive concert experiences in the world today.

Laurent Garnier added to Paradiso Line-up

It’s on! More and more artists and organisations are announcing their presence at this year’s ADE. Laurent Garnier, the godfather of French house music, is the next one to be added to the list. His LBS project will be staged in Paradiso on Thursday October 20th.

LBS stands for Live Booth Sessions (or Loud Bass & Samples), and it takes Mr Garnier back to his raw club roots. While the maestro works the decks and some additional equipment, his longtime friends Benjamin Rippert on keys and Stephane Dri (aka Scan X) on various electronic instruments provide the back-up. Expect the unexpected; Laurent Garnier is widely known for his eclectic and adventurous sets.

Be sure to get your tickets on time as LBS’s frontman has been responsible for numerous sold out events in Holland in the past. Not sure if it’s your cup of tea?
