The Amsterdam Dance Event is the leading electronic music platform and the biggest club festival in the world for the whole spectrum of electronic sub-genres. From 17-21 October, the night time music festival features close to 300 events with over 800 artists spread over five days in 60 venues around the city.

This year the Amsterdam Dance Event (ADE), the world's biggest club festival and leading business platform, will be even bigger than previous years. With the addition of up to 15 new venues, the brand new program ADE Playground, the addition of an extra festival day and a program with over 800 international artists, the ADE confirms its position as the figurehead of the Electronic Dance Music scene. The organization expects more than 6,000 conference and 200,000 festival visitors from around the world during the 17th edition of the five-day event, which takes place from 17 to 21 October.

The event offers a full program of daytime conferences, including ADE Pro in the Felix Meritis and the Dylan Hotel, the Hard Dance Event (HDE) focusing on the harder styles in dance music, ADE Next for aspiring producers and musicians, and ADE University for students who want to learn about the realities of working in the entertainment industry from experts and mentors. ADE's daytime activities also include the cutting-edge technology forum Music and Bits as well as the Tech Lounge start-up zone, both taking place in the De Balie, and Playground; a series of pop-up shops, musical/cross-cultural happenings and unique one-off events across the city aimed at festival goers.

Also new this year is an association with Beamlab in Pakhuis de Zwijger on Wednesday, featuring the very best audiovisual designers and live staging experts. The night time music festival features close to 300 events over five days in 60 venues around the city. Each year, the ADE attracts 3,500 business professionals and 160,000 festival visitors – including 40,000 tourists - from 62 countries.

ADE has gained a reputation for being an event where things get done, and where meaningful and relevant learning experiences happen thanks to the abundant presence of artists, DJs, managers, the media, labels, publishers and producers. The volume of deals done and connections made is one of the most remarkable aspects of the ADE’s daytime activities.

The addition of ADE University plus the expansion of Music & Bits/Tech Lounge into a stand-alone, three day event have created an all-embracing forum that covers every aspect of the electronic music scene, offering something for everyone, from up-and-coming musicians and producers, technology developers, and students, through to the most seasoned professionals.

The introduction this year of the ADE Card, a passport to all Playground's multifarious daytime activities, has further expanded ADE's presence into bars, shops and spaces around the city, offering festivals-goers a range of unique and bespoke experiences.

Over the last 17 years, the ADE has grown from a three-day event largely focussed on dance music into a platform for every imaginable kind of electronic music spread over five days. The event kicks off on Wednesday with ADE Pro, ADE Playground and ADE University, the Music and Bits conference program. On top of that, ADE also now includes the awards ceremony of the prestigious DJ Mag Top 100 DJs Poll on Friday evening in the Convention Factory.

For aspiring musicians and producers, ADE opens its doors on Saturday for ADE Next, where young musicians are invited to meet the professionals face to face in order to get expert opinions on their work from some of the world’s most popular and in-demand artists, DJs and producers. The nighttime line-up features the very biggest DJ and artist names on the planet as well as a selection of the best upcoming talent performing in the close to 60 clubs and venues that make Amsterdam one of the very best and most inspiring clubbing cities in the world.
