Dutch DJs such as Armin van Buuren, Tiësto and Afrojack are among the best in the world and MPs agreed they are a ‘valuable addition’ to the Dutch economy and the Netherlands’ image abroad, news agency ANP reported.

Fashion, gaming and architecture are already included in the creative industry focus.

In October, the Parool reported that the Dutch dance scene booked turnover of €587m last year, with big festivals and events showing the fastest growth since 2002, when the first research was carried out.

The Sensation events organized by ID&T and Van Buuren’s A state of trance events were the big money spinners abroad, the research, by EVAR Advisory Services, showed.

The government’s top sector innovation policy focuses on nine key areas including technology, water and energy, as well as the creative sector.
