Last Saturday, the 19th of March, Dutch DJ Leon Bolier became the most talked about spinner on the planet… Within 10 minutes of taking to the stage to smash the first of Armin van Buuren’s sold-out ASOT500 shows at the MTN Expo in Johannesburg, SA, the trance nation began to speak… 

Having promised the fans something very special indeed for the big night, he delivered! And with it Leon achieved something very few other electronic dance artists have, by becoming one of the ten most discussed topics on the planet, trending worldwide on Twitter.

Leon says: "it very much came out of the blue. About halfway though my set Ruben, one of the A&R guys from Armada came up and told me, that alongside 'Operation Odyssey Dawn', '#asot500' and 'Knut' my name was listed as a worldwide trending topic. I'm an enormous fan and user of Twitter and previously I've only ever seen the likes of Daft Punk and The Prodigy trend worldwide. So to see 'Leon Bolier' there was a very special moment indeed for me. Scanning the comments and seeing the effect my set was having real-time! Well I can honestly say that I've never felt anything like it before. I'd just like to say to Armin van Buuren, Alda Events, my fellow guest DJs and all the people who were at ASOT500 in South Africa and all of those who were listening live online and tweeting about it: thank you and you made the night one of a kind!!"

Aside from rocking world-class events and becoming a high-ranking social network trend, Leon has up and coming his new single with Joop entitled 'Absolut' out shortly, a new single called 'Cape Town' (yes, that was decided after the official ASOT500 broadcast in Cape Town) and a collaboration follow-up to club-combuster '2099' with Swedish DJ Marcus Schossow and this summer he'll be unleashing his second Streamlined mix compilation.
