The most interactive radio show on the planet!

On Sunday June 2nd, in the capital of the Irish Republic, superstar DJ Ferry Corsten pulled off his third spectacular eight-hour-epic live Corsten’s Countdown special summer edition, entitled #CCSUMMER.

Celebrating the launch of Ferry’s chart-based show on RTÉ - the country’s national broadcaster, the show beamed out live from their Dublin-based studios. Drawing a staggering online audience, the subject trended in countries including The Netherlands, USA, UK, Indonesia, Honduras, Brazil, Chile, Argentina, Mexico and Scotland. It’s request-driven playlist included music from some of electronic dance music’s biggest names such as Tiësto, Steve Aoki, Nicky Romero, Armin van Buuren, Markus Schulz, and of course Ferry Corsten among others. Through its purpose-built, cutting-edge website, listeners drove the first Summer Special’s playlist, with the broadcast coming to be dubbed ‘the most interactive radio show ever’.

In the month running up to the Summer Special the dedicated Corsten’s Countdown web portal drew many thousands of track requests, as fans readied themselves for the show. As it got underway at 3pm local time, interaction levels spiked, and then went supernova. Fans tuning in began to intensively live vote for their personal Top 3 tracks, dozens of which ultimately became part of the show’s playlist. Requesting their favourite sun-season tracks - often with accompanying memories, photos and video links, Ferry shared them via the website, generating immense fan interchange across the social networks. The internationally renowned DJ sent pairs of ‘battle tracks’ head-to-head, with the audience live polling through the site (with often nail-biting-ly close results!) which would be next into the mix.

Over the duration of the broadcast DJs called in from around the world, whilst in-studio Ferry interviewed local EDM heroes, including DJ & producer Paul Webster and singer/songwriter/producer, Linnea Schössow. The show also featured a gripping live performance from Christian Burns of his, Ferry and Chicane’s current radio-smash single ‘One Thousand Suns’ and his track with Armin van Buuren ‘This Light Between Us.’

Collectively, through over 20 plus radio partners around the globe and through streaming via the Corsten’s Countdown Summer Special portal and the official Ferry Corsten smart phone App, the show pushed social media into overdrive.

On the reaction to his third epic 8hr show, Ferry said:

It’s amazing to see how my fans have stayed and enjoyed my 8 hour special. Although this is my first Corsten’s Countdown Summer Special, I’m happy to see how the listeners have grown immensely since my first Corsten’s Countdown Live edition last year. Thank you for being a part of the show!

Regularly being dubbed online as ‘the most interactive radio show ever’, the broadcast built to its final climactic Top 10 Countdown, the full results of which are below. ‘Beautiful’, the number 2 track of the countdown, was sung along to on social media and trended in countries such as Indonesia, Japan, USA, Argentina, Mexico, Spain, France, South Africa, India, Russia, UK, NL, and Germany.
