The story behind 'Dream Machine' with Ton TB
Ton TB is an alias of Ton van Empel, a Dutch DJ and producer who is a well known name in the dance scene for many years already. You will most likely remember Ton’s classics 'Greece 2000' and 'Sunset On Ibiza' which he did together with Erik de Koning, under their alias Three Drives.

But Ton was also responsible for tracks under project names such as Fate Federation, Department 1, Tangled Universe and X.cess for example.

Of course Ton is also known for tracks under his Ton TB alias; 'Many Tons Overload', 'Electronic Malfunction' and the classic 'Dream Machine'. A track which was played for the very first time ever in public on September 20, 2003 by Tiësto during a set at the Grote Markt in Breda, The Netherlands. At that time nobody knew the artist and the title of the track was still unknown for the general public as well.

The label, 'Dream Machine' got released on Black Hole Recordings, decided to keep a secret who was behind the track. Tiësto exclusively played 'Dream Machine' in almost all his sets for more than 6 months. On the internet people started to speculate what the name of the track was and who was behind it. At one point some people thought it was a brand new Tiësto track and the title 'Fairlight Distriction' was doing the rounds on the internet as well.

But no, it was the track 'Dream Machine' by Ton TB, which eventually got released on July 12, 2004.

For this interview Twan from Muzikxpress sat down with Ton, to ask him about the story behind 'Dream Machine' and more. The interview is recorded in Dutch, so make sure to turn on the English subtitles!
