Miku Hatsune

Biography
Miku Hatsune is not a real person, but a singing synthesizer application with a female persona, developed by Crypton Future Media. It uses Yamaha Corporation's Vocaloid 2 synthesizing technology.

The name of the character comes from a fusion of the Japanese for first (初, hatsu), sound (音, ne) and future (Miku (ミク). She was the second Vocaloid to be sold using the Vocaloid 2 engine, the first Japanese Vocaloid to use the Japanese version of the Vocaloid 2 engine and the first voice set in Crypton's "Character Vocal Series". Her voice is sampled from Japanese voice actress, Saki Fujita.

Live performances are given using the character, in the form of giant projections.

This vocal synthesizer program is very popular among producers, especially in Japan.

NOTE: Her birthday is a combination of the program's release date (August 31, 2007) and the year 1995 as her bio on Crypton lists her age as 16 years old.
