Title: How to improve the site?
Post by: Hypnotic on September 28, 2006, 06:57:41 AM
What would you like to see on this site, and what would you like to be removed?
Any ideas?

It is, you just need to set your time zone in your profile.
Click here (http://www.trancepodium.com/forum/action,profile/u,1/sa,theme/), and then under "Time Offset" click (auto detect). Then save your profile.

But how many people are on this site?  I dont think we need any improvements but i would like to know how many people are members? Hey Hyp you do a good job of posting i know you are administrator but i still have to say you keep it rolling great!

I don't know if this just happens to me...or if it's some firefox bug :|
Maybe you could try to solve this problem, if it's possible.

EDIT: I refreshed the page 3/4 times and it's all ok now.

Never happened to me before, Nery. What version of Firefox are you using?
Anyone else had this problem?

Hey.  First, must give propts to Hypnotic as you are always coming up with cool topics. lol
Anyway, my biggest idea is to remove some of the duplicate links.  I don't know if it's because you use frames or if it's just me, but there are a lot of groupings with lots of the same links.  IE, Home, News, etc. shows up like three or four times on the page.  It's not bad now, but it would save me some scrolling. heh

I've just put them so the navigation would be easier :D
Only the main sections duplicate though. The menu you see on the forums is for the forums only. Will try to make it less confusig :)

Thanks for the feedback everybody, keep it comming please.

They aren't. I allow guest posting only in the Radio Shows section.

Could add one, but it could distract members from the discussions in the forum. I'll give it a go though.

Regarding the DJ/Producer Talk. I don't really know if you guys are ok with this. But I would suggest providing two separate boards for DJ talk and Producer talk.

Well, let me give you a limited definition of mine for Producer. For one thing, it someone who mixes songs properly so that they could be given the proper feel and texture that the artist is trying to aim for. Or, if the artist does not know what 'listenable' means, the producer fixes that. In this definition I consider myself a producer, and not a DJ necessarily.

Producers and DJs could be talking about different things despite the same words. For example, if you're talking to a Producer, if you talk about equipment, it would more likely pertain to mixing desks, and recording materials, etc. But for a DJ, of course there are turntables, speakers, and equipment specific for computer mixing or otherwise.

But of course, I have also considered reasons for doing otherwise. If there is not a lot of people here leaning towards the producer side, then I don't think there is a need for a separate board.

I don't know if I'm making any sense, or that I might be thinking of ideas based on the wrong assumptions, but somehow I just thought of it and felt the need to share it.

But still, great site, people! :D

Good point Nick!

When we started the forums there weren't many people around so we started with less boards/topics so it doesn't look too empty. But I'm willing to expand the sections as we grow. Thank you for your suggestion.

I apologize for not being around too often lately. Been quite busy so I couldn't  work on the site much.
I will get to everything as soon as I get an internet connection at my appartment.

Keep them coming.

I think this site needs more updating, more informations. If not you (the admin), then the moderators should do that for you... more reviews, more interviews etc...

Yeah, maybe we could get a team for that, so they would feel free to do that. And if others want to contribute now and then, why not.

That's a good idea.

I could give you permissions to write stories/interviews/articles on the main site.

Anyone interested? :)

I think there should be a reviews section on the website, for albums, compliations and notable singles/EP's. What do you guys think?

Title: Re: How to improve the site?
Post by: Nick Andrei on November 06, 2007, 05:40:10 AM
I think that's actually a good idea. I don't know how Hypnotic will do this, but I'm thinking of something like this:

There would be a section in the site for the reviews. This means there must be someone who will write about the record first. And then, each review will have a link to a thread in a specialized section in the forum. From there, people can share their views regarding the album, whether they agree or disagree with the reviewer.

That's a nice idea, but me and the current staff team can't cover every release on the main site. I do get sent some promos from labels for reviews, but it would be nice if we get a team together that would write quality reviews on the main site. For now you guys can open threads in the main discussion forums for each tune and write your reviews there.

I'm working on a module which would get info about every release from online stores/label sites and post it on the site through RSS as soon as it comes out. If I get it working it would be great and every member would be able to write his review below.

I really think there should be a sub-forum for new tracks, like those played in ASOT. I'd love to discuss tracks like Ocean Drive Boulevard by Leon Bolier, cos that's an amazing track IMO.

I agree a new releases section would be really helpful for other members to see what they might want to buy from their favorite artists or some they don't even know.
