Haha, the question I want to know as well. Reason has demos on they're site and full re-fills to buy but they suck and other cost A LOT. On top of that I have no idea on how to get .wav files into Reason!

You have to use ReCycle to make the .wav files a .rex for reason to see them in the loop and sample players.
all i can say is.. its amazing. well worth the $500. it has pretty much made my hardware obsolete as its all beautifully sampled in this one kit. It takes a bit to install though as its 6 dual layer DVD's lol.
trance for 2008 was a great year imo. many great tracks that i just had to have. more then 2007.
as for trance not sounding the way it did back in 2001, well of course it doesn't. music along with the technology producers are using have evolved so much. if you listen to 99-200 trance its very simplistic and "trancey". this is due in part to the method of producing and using hardware. it was extremely time consuming to create a track in the way they are made today, so it was much more simple. Today, with what a single computer can do with some great software, you can produce a massive production with so much more in less time. This has led to trance to become more involved and less minimal. Producers are really pushing themselves to what they can bring with each new track. This of course has led away from the simple trancey tracks of years past and to more full on compositions. With technology keep evolving, and younger producers coming up from not using any hardware ever, the sound will keep evolving and changing. Look for this in 2009 and beyond. Your best bet is to not live in the past yearning for that classic trance, but embracing what is now and living in it.
yes the voting for top 20 2008 is being done differently this year. you can vote right now just to the left of your page.
with the classics set, i had to can last years. mainly because so many of the tracks were hard to obtain legally to do the mix. I will be doing a classics set after the top 20 though, as i am getting a ton of vinyl coming in the next few months from years past.
i do apologize about last years classics set as i thoroughly enjoyed the years before.
I am voting for Obama myself. I guess its because I am quite the lefty and hate most of the republican way of thinking. Some of the stuff Obama spurts out, unfortunately, makes me cringe as well, but he is way better then McCain and Palin.
yes, me and my good friend will be going. cant wait to attend the workshops and see all the new equipment. not to mention ending it with ultra music fest.
The turn table is a good table, but it more in the direction of scratching / battle djs. the straight tone arm resists skipping, but you loose some sound quality and punch in the low end.
the mixer is a pretty good mixer to boot. nice kill switches, good eq range, and a send channel for effects. the crossfader is penny & giles which are noted for their long life and sound quality. the top of the line mixers use these like the xone series.
the carts are not bad, but not great either. they are endorsed by carl cox, but i was not really impressed with them. for all the money you would be saving on the gear, i would get a set of stantons or ortofons to replace them.
overall for 275 its quite the deal. and it almost sounds too good to be true [as just one of those turntables was around 400 by itself]
make sure everything works correctly and the gear is in perfect condition.
i dont vote anymore just due to the way the voting has become. back in the early days you saw names up there who were noted for the amazing quality work they did, and the list changed each year. now its just the same people in almost the same spots each year. it has gotten boring.
i dont use charts either. every morning i brows the record shops to see what came out that day and listen to each preview. if i like it, i buy it and play it. imo it gives a good amount of variety and also introduces people to new tunes and artists.
