People may know Dave Pearce from his "Dance Anthems" radio show on Radio 1 and his Anthems and Euphoria mixes, which are more commercially oriented. Unlike them, this album focuses on underground trance and the upfront tracks and producers in the scene. OK, maybe names like Cosmic Gate, Sean Tyas and Airbase are not really "underground", but compared to the stuff that Dave usually plays, I guess you could call them that.

To be honest, I was hooked on this compilation right after I listened to it, and I enjoyed it from start to finish.
CD 01 is a solid mix of uplifting tracks with beautiful melodies. Forerunners - Lifecycle is a powerfull opener that gets your body into dancing mood immediately. It's followed by the beautiful melodies of Silver Aurora and the excelent remix of Sly One - House Of Music. It continues with A/B Project's Eternal Optimism and Airbase's melodic Medusa, which is followed by Aly & Fila's stunning remix of Why. The only track that I don't like on this CD is Filo & Peri's Anthem. The vocals and the guitar just don't fit well into the atmosphere of the mix. The disc ends with the techy bass beats of Cosmic Gate's Analog Feel.
CD 02 starts where the first one finished, with the great Cosmic Gate remix of Kirsty Hawkshaw's Outsiders. It's followed by a true classic, Bedrock - Heaven Scent, remixed by Greg Downey to give it a modern touch. After the progressive start, the mix goes back to euphoric trance with tracks like Kimito Lopez - Nostalgia, Corderoy - Drifting and Robert Nickson - Motion Blur, and then to some techy ones like Adam Sheridan - La Fiesta and Mac & Mac's remix of Marc Vedo - Time Line. It ends with Sean Tyas' Pacifier, followed by Ampire's Speedlimit, a track which really reminds me of Tiesto's Traffic.
This album is truly what Dave Pearce says it is - a celebration of the trance music scene in the past 12 months. It's a great showcase of new talent.
Looking forward to further releases like this one.
