Green Octopus - Flashpoint -
28 March 2009, at 12:42
The opening two minutes to my latest work, Flashpoint. I've spent three days on Flashpoint. The main thing I'm working on now is constructing some melodies and fixing the lead I introduce one-and-half minutes in. It's going to start out sounding sort of dreamy, even after the aggressive bassline, but I'm going to make the song progressively darker and more melancholy (making it appropriate for the track's name.)

It's also on my myspace page (a page which generally sucks at the moment, LOL), but the quality isn't as good... http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendid=420738581

I won't lie, this is honestly the best thing I think I've ever done, production-wise. Almost everything is finally where I want it to be and I'm placing and fitting sounds as I want them.

An update for this one. I've polished the beat and basslines quite a bit. I also changed up the beat patterns during breaks and the opening lead is more refined. Other noticeable changes as well. Song is two and a half minutes long now and now that I've opened it up substantially, I'm at the fork in the road.

Another update still. The song is more developed. I've got the main melody, some pads, a build-up, and so on. So we're really cooking. The breakdown's a little weak at the moment, I know, but I just wanted to showcase the melody. I'll fix the leads later..

Almost done the entire structure of the song. I will be doing some tweaking over time so that the sounds melt together better. Nevertheless, I do feel that this latest project was a steep improvement from my last one, Latitude. I will have the full version of Flashpoint up on my myspace page soon. Feedback's appreciated, as always.

Here's a complete profile of the song...

For your listening pleasure, I've now uploaded the full mp3 of what I have. It's more refined from what I have from the 6th of April. And of course, this file is the song at its top quality.
