well i'd say this isn't bad. I'd call it more commercialised trance/dance. there's some good ideas in there too. there's a lot happening though. if you made the synths less layered it would sound less like a wall of noise hitting your ears...ok just listened to 2.20 when the 'rivers of avalon' vocals come in, watch out with your notes. they're clashing with the vocals. I can't remember which way round it is, but i think the vocals are in minor and you've made the main synth in major. either change some notes around or change the tune but the ideas are definitely there.
I can see the bassline references. having different styles of creating music is always what makes dj producers different and unique and you're got your own style which is what makes this tune a good remix. around 1.30 you have this really nice pad with high-pitched beep sound, really like that bit just coz it's like the trance crossing over into the main tune. if you're going for the more ASOT trance style, you'd have to make the sounds blend into each other a LOT more. but if you're aiming for the mainstream, then this is right on track. just watch out for those vocals and synths crashing.
I just realised it's the bass clashing with the vocals. solo those tracks together and you'll hopefully hear what im on about.
