Mixing trance with Garbage... -
15 February 2010, at 20:26
So my buddy and I DJ at a teen club for about 800 or so people a night. We are forced to play American mainstream dance music mostly consisting of hip hop and pop.

I need some mainstream friendly sounding trance that would be good to test the floor with. I have no delusions that i could successfully play actual good music but maybe taking a small step in that direction will loosen up the crowd!

So throw some names at me of old or new trance/house that would Americanized club friendly or other stuff that would not get us boo'd  :p Cause dont know to many...

Try to think of very popular and mainstream edm artists and choose their biggest hits.

Darude - Sandstorm  :choon:
Faithless - Insomnia
Faithless - We Come One
Filo & Peri - Anthem
Tiesto's older anthems

Hypnotic you have to understand if they here any of that elctro sound they get turned off cause they are so musically ignorant... Need to soften them with something easy. Obviously sandstorm would work cause everyone knows that. Anthem is a good idea for sure tho!

Tough call.

For pure melodic trance with catchy melodies:

Andain - Beautiful Things (Gabriel & Dresden's Unplugged Mix)
Barthezz - On The Move (Riva Remix)
Darude - Sandstorm
Fictivision vs. C-Quence - Symbols (just watch the Tiesto in Concert 2003 video if you want to see what the most epic crowd reaction looks like.) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wl6UHKsqvWs
Octagen & M.I.D.O.R. - Times Square (Bright Mix)
Signum - First Strike
Signum - Second Wave
Solid Globe - North Pole
Synergy - Hello Strings
Tiesto - Adagio For Strings
William Orbit - Adagio For Strings (Ferry Corsten Remix)

Hard house stuff from the 1990s or trance with off-beat basses and vocals tend to work really well, because they have simpler melodic structures and are more clubbish.:

Agnelli & Nelson - Holding On To Nothing
John O'Callaghan feat. Audrey Gallagher - Big Sky (Agnelli & Nelson Remix)
Signum - Coming On Strong

Also, because Sandstorm is well known, you could probably try to use that as a base to build for other trancy stuff. You could probably make it the most effective by mixing in and out the tracks fairly quickly so they don't seem too long for them.

Or if shit really hits the fan, reach for Broken Tonight!

Tiesto & Three Six Mafia- FEEL IT!!!

haha jk with that one, but here a few that might work, because non trance lovers tend to like them.

Oceanlab-Lonely Girl (Gareth Emery Remix)
Morgan Page-Longest Road (Deadmau5 Remix)
Pjanoo-Eric Prydz
Royksopp-What Else is There (Thin White Duke Remix)
Tiesto's In The Dark or Break My Fall

I think vocal trance is the way to go if your going to go with trance. These are all songs I slipped into college house party playlist that went over better than I imagined.
