This is a discussion on which is best, for creating Trance,..

Fruity Loops 9 XXL or Cubase+Reason.

I must say that fruity loops is much easier to use and makes the production of music a walk in the park.

I have to admit it's all about preference. I prefer to use Reason and Cubase/Nuendo but that's because I've been taught how to use it a LOT on my degree course. I've never really got into Fruity Loops myself. Each DJ Producer uses a variety of different applications to create the sound they want to create so really I thinik it's good if you know how to use a whole bunch of audio programs.
If you want to use a whole bunch of different applications as slave programs, then it'd prob be best to get into Cubase, Nuendo, Logic or Pro Tools as they're the most widely used in the industry and saying you can utilise these programs in the music tech job industry can really get you far.
Apparently when I finish my degree, it'll say my course degree name followed by the grade followed by a nice Steinberg-approved sticker saying I'm confident in using their programs lol can't wait to show that one off.

I personally think there is no "BEST" software to make Trance , To me it's what you feel most comfortable to work with and the experience you have had with that software. Just like any VST's out there the more experience you have with it the better you are at getting the sound you want...

PS you forgot Ablelton sick sick program

I mainly use Garageband or Magix Music Maker.  Here, you could be as simple or as complicated as you want.  And its very easy to understand too.
Now known as Randy Derricott. I may sometimes use the DJ Ranz alias for certain projects though.

It sounds like Reason goes in tandem with Cubase from the way you wrote it, is this true or are you saying simple [fl] vs advanced [cb,r,etc]

I have no idea and I want to start with one, but if Cubase alone isnt good enough I think I will hold off and start with FL

Yeah when i was studying sound engineering we use to work alot with ProTools, Cubase and Reason
and yes, Reason can be intergrated with Cubase. but , I forgot all those stuff thanx to earthly habits, hehe

I am using Fruity Loops 9 XXL Producer Edition,, it rules. Really easy to use, however without Vst's you wont have too many sounds to use, and after a good created mix, you will be forced to use the same sounds...
Still I know that ProTools is the best software to use, beacause of the many tools included and variety of FX you can implement on your mix.
VST's you can get @: http://www.looperman.com/plugins-and-fx.php?cid=1
or check out : http://free-loops.com/free-vst-plugins.php

Nice, thanks for clearing that up

I think I'm gonna try FL, I've seen it used before

Are those VSTs for any program? or just Pro Tools?

Not sure if it works on every program, but you can definitely use it with fruity loops, and probably with Protools and Cubase as well.
If starting with FL studio, get the latest, I recommend what I am using,, FL studio 9 XXL

Check out a preview of my mix created with FL studio

If you wonder how you’re going to get FL studio, mail me @ routingwithin@gmail.com
And I’ll give you a way

If your looking for tunes created with FL, simply check out stuff by Breakfast or Arnej. They both use FL Studio.

I'm an Ableton Live man myself. Love it and I highly recommend it if you can get it.
