What are good ways to get vocals legally?

A) I cannot sing...lol
B) I want a female vocalist anyways as they sound better at climax moments of trance/dance music

I have thought of going to my local university and hiring an intern as a vocalist.  I know there would be more legal mumbo jumbo,  but if it worked out, a band could be formed.  I also found a local agency that has some singers that may have possibilities.

What are some ideas you all have had to get some vocals?

What i'd suggest Tim is sweeping MySpace for female vocalists, there are some good ones on there. Normally they won't charge and they usually have good voices. However, I guess the process could be quite time consuming so you may not fancy it.

So, if you find a good one on myspace, do you record separate tracks?  Odds are we will not live in the same location.

That is a really good idea btw.

Nah ask them if they will do a collab, write some lyrics, they sing, import vocals, walah! :hp:

How would you import vocals on Reason, since it works with virtual racks?

This reminded me of how one of my friends thought the vocals on my songs were of a woman. I looked at her and said, "That's me singing." :D

I use Reason myself. Basically, you'd either have to do it the good old fashioned way; import onto an nnxt or redrum sample device, make a long note lasting the whole song and keep listening to it with the backing track behind it, nudging it back forth to get it in time.
Otherwise, you can use Reason as a slave device to a host program, eg. Cubase, Nuendo, Logic, even Ableton (I tried once but it buggered up so the others would work fine.) You open the host program first and then, run Reason almost as a plug-in. Then you can have the vocals playing on a (eg.) Cubase track, whilst playing the backing track in Reason.

Check out <html>http://www.musictechmag.co.uk/mtm/reason</html> for in-depth stuff about Reason stuff, especially how to setup a host to slave session
