And so I was there, just a bit over 4pm last Friday at Flashover Fridays 2.0, the 2nd edition of Flashover Fridays, an initiative from Flashover Recordings together with Pioneer to bring all kind of people from within the musicbusiness together, to network, to learn and to just have a great time together and listen to great music.

The 1st episode, 3 months earlier, it was more between DJs and producers only, the music during the Youtube livestream was played by Jacob van Hage and Ferry Corsten himself, but this time they decided to invite a bigger diversity of people including 'bedroom DJs' who could their demo's getting heard and forumowners. And that's why they invited me. Ferry Corsten wouldn't be there unfortunately, but some of the guys I knew were, besides Twan and Celwin from Flashover Recordings/Dance Therapy Management, Misja Helsloot, Ruud Kretzers aka Radion6 and Carlo Resoort aka Carlos aka 4Strings. At first Twan showed me around in the office, offered me a beer and introduced me to some people, like producer Michael de Kooker and his fiancee. I soon started talking with Carlo Resoort and Radion6 as well and we had a long discussion. I liked the relaxing atmosphere all along the afternoon/evening and how the people were interested in me and TrancePodium as well. It was not at all the-fan-asking-the-artist kind of conversations, but it went both ways. With everybody.

At about 5:30 pm Dimension started to play his 1 hour set which was live broadcasted on Youtube. Not too loud of course, because everybody had to be able to network still. Really nice set he played which was finished by Jacob van Hage, so that Dimension could do an interview for the live broadcast as well. In the meanwhile I badly wanted to talk to Dennis Waakop Reijers-Fraaij who had joined in as well. It was a shame Ferry couldn't be there, but when I heard Dennis would come as well, I had forgotten all about that. Dennis is for me somebody from about the same level. This guy is a legend! For those who don't know who he is, he was the co-producer of Tiësto in his most succesful time. Tracks like Traffic and Lethal Industry were co-produced by this man.

He was all the time talking with somebody and I got kinda shy. Until I told Twan I would love to talk to him, he took me with him and introduced me to him. And we talked for about a half an hour! He is such an interesting guy and the way he thinks about how music should be made, or, how he wants to make music was so interesting to listen to. This is a true artist, not a copycat, but somebody who really creates something original out of nothing.

After having a nice discussion again with Twan and Ruud again about some inside info, I decided it was time to head home. Flashover Fridays 2.0 would last till 7pm and it was passed 8pm already. Over half of the people had already left and when I just walked up to Twan to say goodbye, he asked me if I wanted to see what's behind the single door that had been closed all night: Ferry's studio. Such an amazing place! Holy ground! So much equipment and every little detail was deliberately made to provide the best sound. Incredible!

So all together a really great initiative, to bring all kinds of people from the music business together, talking together in a relaxing unforced atmosphere. Well organized, but not at all strict. Lots of drinks and lots of food being available. Well done to the Flashover team!

Awesome reading! Glad you had a good time there and had a chance to sit in the Ferry's studio! :D
Not a single day went by without trance. Trance is a lifestyle. I breathe trance. Even when I'm not feeling quite well, it's the music which gets me back on track. It has a inevitable positive vibe with a large risk to addiction!
