I rly had to post this ... -

Well one thing bothers me for quite a long time and that is I found out that 5 tracks are so similar that is impossible there weren't any suspicious activities.

Mark Andrez & Den Rize - Flames
Since this one is oldest, it isn't suspicious http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6NZ-p_Y_2ts

Like week later came Adam Nickey - Callista which was quite similar to Flames. I already started to think whether this was just copy or something ... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aT1xHpPCIXs

Than several weeks later I heard ToTW 421 : Robert Nickson - Maybe Till Next time
At this point I was already intrigued by this, but still it just had some similarities with Flames, while it was quite similar (strange) with Callista http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z9ihgJKsNSQ

Week later ToTW was Daniel Kandi - Venice Beach
And that was rly 100% stolen, I won't comment further just click on the link below: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fsdF6qNFDfA

AND THAT'S NOT IT ... OH NOES !
Here comes "new", "great" track called ReOrder & JayCan - Come With Me To Varanasi
Well now you have to be an idiot to not realise this is same track ... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e10ohwRxqrM

My question is ... Does New World Order has anything to do with this ? :D :D :D
Nah, seriously, just tell me whether I gone mad, or this is same track ...

Yeah, this is getting really depressing. It comes off as newer trance being a cookie-cutter, clockwork, completely fake source of music. No feeling or passion in the music, just take someone else's melody, drop in some generic arrangement, and call it a trance song. Tell me what's going on here with trance music?

I found a few similarities too.

John Dahlback's Hustle up's main melody sounds exactly like Rank 1's Awakening.

I really prefer that no one copies off melodies, but if you must use another melody already created, at the very least give credit where credit is due!

For example, a trance classic Watergate's "HEART OF ASIA" featured a melody made by Ryuichi Sakamoto for a movie.  Even though they didn't use the original name for the melody, they at least acknowledged that the song was written by Sakamoto in the credits on the disc/vinyl.

Now known as Randy Derricott. I may sometimes use the DJ Ranz alias for certain projects though.

Oh my gosh WTF????? :O
Thank you Genghis for posting this.. I already thought that "Maybe next time" reminded me of another melody which i couldn't remember, i realize now it was Callista.  The worst thing is that if the first track Genghis posted is indeed the oldest, its also the less popular,at least i didn't know about it till i heard it now because of the thread.. Why is Flames less famous than the other tracks? By not noticing similarities like this, we praise the more famous names of the trance scene (Robert Nickson, Daniel Kandi and Adam Nickey) while ignoring the original creators, such a shame because at least credit should be given where credit is due like Randy said...
I hope this just was one case....
... Endless love and trust in trance ...

@deadmau5 - Tnx mate for support.

@Rover - Well yeah, it's quite annoying when you hear something like this , but luckily there are plenty of honest (and creative) producers that can make your day better.

@TheFrown - Yes, there should be some limit ... but seems like some DJs just doesn't care about similarities (equalities)

@DJRANZ - Yup, there are too many examples lately, I gave this one just to start conversation about this, and as Rover said "What's going on with Trance music". Well I am not too long in trance, but this seems to happening with almost all genres ...

@vera - Tnx. Main problem could be that we even don't know whether Flames is the first song. I think it is, but you never know, some1 can come up with other similar tracks sooner or later, and that is one of the worst things ... You don't know who to blame, and to who give kudos ...

Huh a good job you did there exposing these copycats :) I don't know who is the original creator of this melody but credits to him and shame for the others, who dont deserve to call themselves a trance producers!

It has happened several times before, and I posted about them here, here and here, and no doubt it will happen again.

What still surprises me is how they get away with it even after they're exposed. I mean, all those are clear cases of copyright infringement. There must be something I'm missing here.

Oh, and I think everyone has noticed this before, but just for the record, compare the melodies:

You could argue and call it over inspired, bottom line is the original author must be credited in situations like this.

Ha, I'm reminded of this number: W&W Mainstage and Marcel Woods - Inside Me.

Someone also said that the strings break in Breakfast - Sunlight is identical to Robert Nickson - Spiral, which I can confirm. But whether or not that's "stealing" I think is still a stretch.

Now, I've heard lots and lots of tracks with similar chord progressions that remind me other songs, but none that seem to blatantly copy another one.
