Good interview. I agree about the table service thing, I wonder how many djs actually like this though because Beyer criticised it in an interview recently.

Can't say I would want to see Jules myself but he's been around for years. Nice to see Big Al there as he used to play Syndicate in Bristol often and always thought he was decent. A few of those moved on to bigger things Suckley and Ben Nicky but they don't do trance anymore which is a shame.

The DJ I rated most from back then isn't even playing anymore I don't think, so maybe that shows what I know.

Suckley still produces trance but Nicky, i think he is just playing the sound everyone does now right? No style at all.

Which DJ did you rate most anyway Dan?

I liked the part about the VIP,how lame being in Ibiza and not living the nightlife to the fullest, really. You have to be down there with the crowd in order to feel it. On the other hand, the way things are now, clubs are so packed it's hard to breathe, so maybe the VIP area is getting the only way to enjoy an event where a famous DJ plays?

I'm sorry, bad grammar there as I wrote it on my phone.

I meant the club doesn't do trance nights anymore, which is a shame because I had some great nights there seeing the likes of Corsten, Schulz, J00F, Simon Patterson etc and now that Air is going too from Birmingham it means there is hardly any trance near me at the moment. Don't really like Ministry or The Institute in London & Birmingham.

Suckley is someone I've always liked, Ben Nicky was someone I always disliked both playing out and production wise. I haven't heard anything of his for a long time but I do see his "Headfuck" posts and assumed it was that noise that is common place now.

It was a guy called Joel Drapkin, he was pretty sound and I used to get my tickets off him. He was always approachable and I always enjoyed his sets when I saw him play out. Towards the end they were putting him B2B with Ben Nicky a lot which I didn't always think worked. I remember when I spoke to him a long time back, him voicing his frustration because Promoters were booking DJ's who they knew would sell tickets (Themselves to people on facebook, friends etc) rather than DJ's who could actually play. I think that was the gist of it anyway.

Quite astonishing to see how much success Ben Nicky has had really but he obviously has something about him because of the success he has had.

EDIT - Just looked Joel up and think he is still playing around from time to time which is good to see. :)

erm sorry but WHAT DO YOU MEAN AIR IS GOING FROM BIRMINGHAM? GOING WHERE? Had you told me about this already?

Ben Nicky's success is based on the amount of tit pics he posts on twitter :p

Still need to read this interview  but about what you wrote, really shame Air closed down. I've never been there and I probably never would, but it was kinda legendary cz of the many great Gods KItchen nights. Have some massive classic sets from Tiësto playing there.

Also, the Headfuck stuff you said you saw Ben Nicky posting, he's also using this as a name of some of his remixes. Really, this name already makes me NOT want to listen to it.

It's a good interview Remco, it did make me think a little better of Judge Jules, as I had a different perception of him to be honest. Which was totally uninformed as well, I just don't enjoy his style.

There used to be a regular event every year in Digbeth, (Birmingham) called Electricity, I headed into The institute and just never got a good vibe off of it that night. I much prefer the Custard Factory or Rainbow Wearhouse near by. I also guess that it's a bit of my own annoyance at the fact that they dropped Air, because I really loved Air and it was the first club that I started going to outside of Bristol. Air and Cocoon club were the first clubs that shut down that I really loved and so I guess it was the first time that I felt that "loss" as a clubber. Lakota almost shut down in Bristol which would have been gutting.

Also, Air really felt like the home for that style of music, I think Ministry is average in comparison and you will never see a trance night at Great Suffolk Street Wearhouse or Fabric. There is digital society but that's up in Leeds and bit far.
