I can't say I'm particularly shocked at this point. 2009 was a year of change for this guy, and that was obvious for some time. Though I think it's kind of funny how the officialtiesto Youtube channel constantly tags its videos with "trance."

"You don't hear trance records in my set at all now."
I think the case is pretty much closed. Tiesto is all but done with trance music now and isn't planning on looking back anytime soon. Of course, someone who is a thinking person with creative ambitions can't force themselves to stick with something forever if it isn't working out. So this is Tiesto's way of saying that he's releasing himself from his long lived association to trance music. He's focused elsewhere.

I am and am not surprised that this happened. Not surprised because his recent remixes and songs hinted this would happened, but surprised because it feels a bit wierd. Tiesto has become one of the biggest names in the Trance genre.
Because of that, Tiesto quitting trance is like Ford quitting automobiles or Nintendo quitting video games.....

Yea, I totally agree. He may have not invented trance, but he surely made it what it is today

Of course I prefer him making trance, but his latest album proves that he can still produce great tracks even if it's not trance

meh what ever. I just saw him live last sunday. he played trance, but it wasnt his only genre. i'll say 60% was electro/house/techno. but i my opinion, the set had a healthy dose of everything.
