5-year-old kills his 2-year-old sister, with 'My First Rifle' -

It was "just one of those crazy accidents," in the words of the local coroner: A 5-year-old in Cumberland County, Ky., accidentally shot and killed his 2-year-old sister yesterday with a .22-caliber rifle.

But unlike many suchtragedies, the rifle in this case actually belonged to the child, the Lexington Herald-Leader reports. The gun, which he received as a gift last year, was inadvertently left loaded with a single shell in a corner of the family's home.

"It's a Crickett," said coroner Gary White of the gun marketed to youths with the slogan "My First Rifle." He continued, "It's a little rifle for a kid ... The little boy's used to shooting the little gun."

White told WKYT that the children's mother was home when the shooting occurred: "She was actually cleaning, and she had went out on the porch. She said no more than three minutes had went by and she actually heard the rifle go off. She ran back in and found the little girl."

In a country that already had reached insanity, it still can get worse...

Rifles especially made and designed for children:

Children have no business anywhere near a firearm or something that is equally dangerous....

Americans from the South/ are just GUN crazy

these parents should be at fault, for letting their child play with a loaded gun in the house

I hope the parents of this accident are prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law,

how horrible, they have no business raising children

They SHOULD get charged with "ALLOWING A MINOR EASY AND UNLAWFUL ACCESS TO A FIREARM".

A felony in most states.

That or at the very least CHILD NEGLECT.

Wtf! How is this even possible ? I can understand seeing mini cars for children, mini motorbikes for children or even a mini knife (all fake obviously) but the actual fact of developing, creating and selling guns "for children" that can harm or kill is unreal. Where the fuck is america leading to ? I am so gutted by this. It's as if they're taking or the gun thing like a joke. Really :mouthshut:

Thiis disgusts me.

But no... We dont need any type of gun contol at all. Hell lets make rifles for our kids now.

When i load everything into that container for the move back to SWE in a year or two I am not looking back.

What a terrible thing to happen.. It really is. Parents should be flogged.

If it would only be in the south, they would be the minority and the law would've changed already. I'm afraid it's bigger than only the gun crazy south unfortunately.

And not just for letting him play with a loaded gun, the mother/parents should be at fault, but playing with a gun in the first place already.

For the rest I completely agree with you.

How big the news in the whole world was 2 weeks ago and still is about that bomming in Boston and how the whole USA was in shock about it. I think it's safe for me to say this problem is much bigger and so much more shocking. This isn't about 2 or 3 innocent people that died. This is about a whoooole lot more. And children for god's sake!

Unfortunately, it only got a small place somewhere around page 14 here. I do know why though, cz we wouldn't be sucking up with the USA, but we would criticize them. It really disgusts me :yell:
