Apple introduces iPad -
28 January 2010, at 03:48
Hey, was wondering if you guys had heard about the iPad yet, and what you guys think about it, I will add some details soon

It's basically a thin 10 inch multitouch tablet computer [think paper sized iPhone, no keyboard]

It runs all iPhone apps and has expanded functionality for many apps

Unfortunately it still can't multi-task and runs iPhone OS 3.2, but I have hopes that 4.0 will bring multi-tasking to at least the iPad, if not both devices

It runs a custom Apple ARM processor at 1Ghz, not sure about RAM but I heard it was low, we might have to wait for the iPad 3GS to make multitasking a reality   ^_^

Unfortunately it only supports AT&T 3G, or you can settle for the WiFi Only version

I am notoriously anti Apple, especially for PCs and Phones, I always wanted to buy a Mini just for Garage Band, unfortunately I still might have to since iPad has no OS-X   =\

I do not find the iPad very interesting. I think it seems better to read a paperbook, or watch a movie on one of the other options that I have. Surfing on the net on this thing? Why? This is my first impression anyway, maybe if I try it someday I would buy one, you never know.. I think it is cool of them to try to build something new.
It's about music! Not one music style is better than the other, not one music style is more truly than the other. The whole thing is based on respect. It's all music, music never separates people!

is my response
Haha, I actually don't mind the virtual keyboard but NO FLASH and NO MULTITASKING is UNACCEPTABLE

I'll have to wait for an updated version or go for something from Asus or MSI, preferrably with Android

It would have been so sweet if I could stream Pandora while reading an eBook and periodically checking updates for e-mail, twitter, facebook whatever

Besides that you can't phone with it. Or isn't that important with the iPhone? :p

It might replace the laptop, but I'm not sure if it will.

Sorry, but I can't see the need for this.

A notebook can do anything it does, and more.

I personally felt the same way when I first thought about it.  Then, as I was sitting down stairs using my MacBook Air while watching TV, I realized what the device was great for.  Exactly as Steve showed it during the keynote.  Its a casual machine, sitting on the couch with a device that does everything you would do while sitting on the couch.  There is no need for a lot of the items it omits.  If you need to do producing, or photo editing.. lets face it, you use your more powerful desktop or a desktop replacement notebook.   This was basically aimed at the net book market.  Think about it.. those have tiny screens, ridiculously small keyboards, and do not do much.

This device puts everything you would want an ultra portable to do, while being very lightweight, have great battery life, and using a very beautiful screen.

i want one for every day use while on my hour break at work, on airplanes and traveling.

No flash?  meh.. HTML5 is coming, and you wont need it anymore.  Not to mention its full of security holes and is a resource hog.  These are the two main reasons why it is not on the iPhone or iPad.

I want one, and will buy one.  the 16GB Wi-Fi only model.   I do not need my whole music library on it, thats why I have an iPod and my desktop machine with all of its space.  I do not need it as a portable Logic studio, thats why I have a MacBook Pro.

To have a device that I can watch movies on of my choice on  a ten hour flight without the need for charging and it works fine in  a coach seat, then hit a button and start reading my favourtie book, or play a board game on, all while it taking up barely any space in my carry on?  yes please.
