First time going clubbing alone? -
14 July 2011, at 04:39
I'm thinking of going next month to see one of my favorite DJs, John Digweed, in LA. However, I don't think any of my friends are interested in seeing him or are able to come. This would be my first time going clubbing as well, since I'm just turning 21. I've been to big concerts and electronic music festivals before and I'm confident I'd have fun at those even if I went alone, but I have no idea what a club atmosphere is like and what to expect. This is going to be a 21+ event. Do you guys have any advice for me and do you think it would be a good idea to go alone to see one of my favorite DJs? I think I would really regret it if I missed seeing Digweed since he doesn't come around that often and I have yet to see him live.

If you think you will regret it when you're not going, just go. The worst think that can happen is that you won't like it, but if he's your favorite DJ, I'm pretty sure you will. At least you will never regret that you've gone, even when you won't like it. So it's always worth the try :D

The same thing happened to me in 2010. I was supposed to see Tiesto for my first gig ever. None of my friends were able to come but I still went alone. I'm pretty sure you'll regret it if you don't go, especially because it's your favorite DJ :)

I haven't been in this situation beofre but if he is your fav DJ then to hell with it and go.

When you got to events, gigs etc how much time do you actually spend talking to people? IMO it is always better if people went with you as the overall experience is much better but I tend to spend most of the time there dancing like mad and enjoying every minute of it and forget who is there with me lol.

I had 2 tickets for Armin a few months back and no one wanted to go with me. This was after an old firm game so most people were worse for wear but obv I was too excited so went myself although travelled in with people I knew were also going.

You will always meet people there although going with firends is always better for travelling etc but if your ok travelling yourself then go for it. The chances are they will be others there in the same situation.

Go and enjoy mate!!

Alright cool thanks for the advice you guys! I'm leaning towards going now, but getting there will be a pain (2 hours drive). The event lasts till 4am and I have class at 11am the next day, so I'd have to make the drive back right after. I'd imagine I'd be dead tired the following day haha.

That's a problem for the day after haha. And just play some great trance in your car. Those 2 hours will pass really quick :D But ye, 2 hours is a long drive for in the middle of the night.

Go for it! :)

I am going to Amsterdam Dance Event on my own cause I am fed up of waiting for other people to come along to events that I want to go too.

I was going to see Markus Schultz on my own in London but my friend came at the last minute however if you go alone you are much more likely to meet new people and make new friends.

You are never in my experience truly alone at a good electronic night :)

Haha thanks for the advice guys, I went to it and had a fantastic time. :D John Digweed played an amazing relentless dark, banging set. 4 hours of pure madness straight from the start. I got to shake Digweed's hand after too, he's a really cool guy. :)
