How did you start DJing/Producing? -

Perhaps this might turn out into an interesting discussion... how did you start doing what you do now musically?

I've been writing songs since I was 9. And then, my parents bought me a guitar when I was 12... and learned to play it, of course. At around 15 or 16, I was introduced to Enigma, and I began thinking of making electronic music. I discovered more as the years passed, until by 2007 (last year) I began my N. Andrei project, which is my sign of devotion for music. Of course, there's also my rock band which is still active. :)

How about you guys... tell us your stories. :)

Nice and early start Nick Andrei! :)

Well, my familly have always had some music playing in the background, especially my sister, who is 5 year older than me. No one played an instrument. I played drums for alittle while, but would'nt make it as a drummer today! :p

So, suddenly I got into Hip Hop, and wanted to learn how to mix and scratch, so I bought my first mixer and Technics 1210's at age 13. From then until now I have changed in style every now and then, but for the last 12 or 13 years, I've been into Trance. Love the feeling.

Actually I've not really tried to "make it" as a dj. Was resident for a couple of years in Norway, but didn't really go for it. I've also worked for a fm radio station, and have had a internet radio show. Don't know why, maybe I'm alittle slow, but we've just bought Ableton Live, some keyboard and other equptment. It's not that I have a goal beeing big or anything, no, but it's what I want to do. I hate regular jobs! :p Music  is hard work, but atleast it's fun! :)

We've been lucky enough to have the chance to move to The Netherlands, so we did, and love it! Good place for edm! :D How it goes from here, no one knows, but I don't care as long as it's going to be fun! ;)
It's about music! Not one music style is better than the other, not one music style is more truly than the other. The whole thing is based on respect. It's all music, music never separates people!

During my primary school days I used to learn lessons for keyboards. When I was younger I used to listen to Dave Pearce's Dance Anthems in the car on the way back from a club I used to go to and this got me into listening to Trance. When I discovered my first proper Trance track (Armin's Sail) in late 2005, this got me hooked. During 2007 I started producing using Dance eJay 7. Whilst this was quite poor in terms of software and music quality, it gave me a foundation to start producing. I now have FL Studio 7 and Ableton Live 6 and I really hope to one day make it as a DJ. At the moment I do not have the funds to buy equipment, but I really hope to soon as I hope to be a DJ/Producer one day, rather than just producer. :)

Good topic idea Nick ;)

Filip: I'll be honest when I say that when you first told me that story, it really inspired me. :)

Ben: Thanks! It would be nice to get to play tracks at clubs, and since you're already a producer, that would be a good competitive advantage, especially when people get hooked on your originals. :) Who knows, we might do a collab someday. ;)

Any other stories? C'mon, it might be nice to have this as the biography thread for the members in Trance Podium. :)

I started producing trip-hop at age 14 and slowly began moving toward trance.  I used my school's Garageband and Soundtrack Pro programs to produce my first 2 albums and later got Magix Music Maker so I could make music at home.  I used all three programs to make my latest album "MULTIPLE MOODS".

I started DJing in 2007 with the help of MIX STATION 3.

My goal is to someday become an awesome DJ/producer, have my own trance/rock/JPOP record label, and help trance regain its popularity....

Good story, DJ Ranz! And yes, keeping trance alive is a noble cause. I have dreams of starting a label, too. :D

Sweet Nick!  When we both get our labels off the ground, I will increase your popularity by acting as your distributor in North America.
