Hey guys,
My XBOX 360 got a RED RING OF DEATH and is not functioning properly. Anyone know how to fix it besides disassembling it or sending it to Microsoft HQ in Seattle?

Ouch I had a launch unit that died close to 3 years in, shipped+fixed+shipped free, havent had a single hiccup since

Mine would have been 4 this year as it was made in August 2006 and I got it the following Christmas.....
I will look at the console manual and see if I can still send it in for free under the waranty....

ahh alright, your warranty is probably up, but you can go ahead and try talking to them. If its not covered, I know they sell xbox's just the console itself (no hard drive, wires, etc.) on ebay and they usually sell for around 70 bucks, so I would look there since the only thing you need to replace is the console itself.

UPDATE: I called Microsoft and spoke to a representative. They said they'll fix it free of charge and extend the warranty by 2 years! Not a bad deal! Now I just wait 16 days (2 to ship it over, and 14 to fix it) and I will have it good as new. I have my Wii, PS2 and older systems to keep me company!
