Re: If you were ruler of your country, what would you change about it? -

If I was president of the US, I would change a lot of things!
1. Gun laws: The United States is the easiest place to obtain a gun. All you need is to have a permit to carry one and not be a convicted felon and you can buy one. This has come back to bite us on numerous occassions however. One example occured last year, when in a university in my native Virginia, a guy snapped and killed 30 people. When the police caught him, he turned the gun on himself.
If I was president, weapons would be divided into two categories:
Class A: Lethal weapons, weapons that can take a life. Only the police, military and other authority figures would be allowed to have these.
Class B: Non-lethal weapons, weapons that can't kill but can cause severe pain, examples include tasers, bb guns, paintball guns, etc. Anyone could have these.
I would also change our measuring system to metrics. As far as I know, the United States is the only country that still uses the English system. The metric is so much easier to convert because it is based on the number 10.
Here, gas prices are almost $4 a gallon, I would try to find some alternate fuel or lower gas prices.
Now known as Randy Derricott. I may sometimes use the DJ Ranz alias for certain projects though.
