Canadian newspaper the Chronicle Herald has revealed how a crazed Tiesto fan who attacked and almost murdered his mother used violence to go and see the trance DJ performing live. John Candow, 24, who suffers from bipolar and schizoaffective disorders, had admitted himself to a closed hospital before learning that Tiesto was in town, prompting him to come up with a brutal scheme when his psychiatrist said he couldn’t go.
“He’d assault the psychiatrist, get arrested, plead guilty and be released on probation in time to see his DJ idol,” the Herald revealed. “His plan worked. He punched the man at least three times, appeared in court and was out in time to see Tiesto.” Mr Candow, a keen aspiring DJ, was unrepentant. “I have no remorse,” he confessed. “All I did was do what I had to do to see my favourite musician of all time and I’d do it all over again if I had to.”
Fellow superstar tech/trance DJ Christopher Lawrence chatted candidly about his own unusual admirers in an interview with Skrufff in 2006, admitting he has ‘plenty of psycho fans’. “I have one that sent me a bag of bullets,” said Christopher. “Another is in prison and writes to me about all the ways he can kill someone. He says that through my music I am the only one who understands him so he sent me a can of loose tea. He keeps writing asking if I have tried the tea yet.”
Chatting to Skrufff this week, Christopher’s publicist (and wife) Sara revealed his tea drinking fan continues to write, and forwarded over his most recent letter in which he explained the practicalities of weapon less killing. “Hey, how you doing, I would just like to fill you in on a little something… if we were in person it would be a lot more specific,” the prisoner promises, before going into gruesome detail about ripping out eyes, tearing off ears and destroying Adam’s apples.
