OH MY GOSH! THEY KILLED MEGAUPLOAD! -
20 January 2012, at 02:55
On January 19, 2012, a day that will live in infamy, MEGAUPLOAD has been shut down and the people running it have been arrested, courtesy of the US Federal Government.

In my opinion, they have officially crossed the line! I used MEGAUPLOAD to store mixes of mine that were longer than two hours. Now, any files I have stored on there (like my year-end mixes) ARE NOW GONE! I am so livid right now....

Yup, read about it few hours ago. Putting all the "censorship/controlling the internet" talk aside, this impacts TrancePodium directly, because the majority of the uploads in the radio shows and live sets section were on Megaupload.

Now we'll have to use M(BLEEP)aF(BLEEP)e or Z(BLEEP) to host our work.

Those aren't curse words, I just bleeped them in case a fed is watching us.

The German owner Kim Schmitz has made over $ 110 M over the years with MegaUpload, over the back of hardworking people. It appears he has been arrested several times before as well. The Dutch Bram van der Kolk is the technical brain behind it and has been arrested as well.

Google translate this:
http://www.ad.nl/ad/nl/5601/TV-Radio/article/detail/3130342/2012/01/20/Eigenaar-Megaupload-woont-in-huis-van-30-miljoen-euro.dhtml

Still very much pissed off about losing all my uploads and the thing is, after reading the reason of the arrest, it's very well possible this will happen with all/more of these filesharing sites.

Its complete bollocks is what it is. Will my server be shut down due to my pod casts on it soon? Will people who legally buy our music and use it in sets go to jail for copyright infringement? (Even though the places we buy our music from talk about fair use)

I really despise this country....

HA and Anonymous almost immediately DDOS attacked the justice departments servers systems after the announcement of this. I say it was completely due. This country is just going way to far. Instead of worrying about a few dollars that the millionaire artists might loose, why not do something about all the corporations moving all their business over seas and leaving millions of Americans out of work...

*packs his bags for the move back to Sweden as I am completely disgusted.*

I feel you, Tom. The United States has betrayed us all. Instead of being a land of free expression and equal opportunity, it's become a biased sin land in which corporations and the rich become more powerful while normal, hard working people like you and I keep getting screwed over.

Once I am able to, if things don't change, I am going to move to Europe or Japan.

Daniel aka BristolCity1992 describes perfectly what is going on here:

Let's be honest, the people behind SOPA/PIPA are smart, very smart. They know without a doubt the bill will not put a dent in piracy. The kind of people who pirate and run piracy services are far too smart to be brought to heel by mere legislation and have continued to elude the best efforts of the US and it's lackeys. SOPA/PIPA exists for one reason, to protect an aging and crooked business model, dominated by large corporations who are slowly but surely being eroded by people like you and me. These corporations want to stifle the internet because the internet is the biggest threat to their dominance that has ever existed. For decades, through control of radio stations and television channels, corporations have made bank, but now, all the money in the world can't save them from guys in their bedrooms and home-made studios creating content that is more relevant to the current generation. The variety the big media corporations refused to provide because it "wasn't profitable", is now being provided by hundreds of thousands of amateur, semi-pro and professional independent creators and directors and we're all competing for the most important currency of all, time. The time you spend watching our material is time you don't spend watching theirs. It's money directly out of their pocket that they could have been earning before the internet came along and that's the hilarious thing about this whole deal. Piracy is not what's killing their profits, completely legitimate competition from the internet is. They use the cause of "fighting piracy" as a trojan horse to force through bought and paid for legislation to kill independent content creation for good because they can see the end is nigh for their aging and increasingly irrelevant business model. They know they cannot win legitimately, so they do what they've always done, exploit a corrupt political system to bully and extort their way to what they want. This is what SOPA/PIPA are really about and that is why you should oppose them. You are standing up for what your generation represents, just as previous generations have done the same on a slew of different issues. As much as those in power would like us to believe we are the apathetic, lazy generation. The truth is we are anything but and that scares the shit out of them.

I couldnt agree more about the anger expressed here, I see a disturbing similarity to this and the laws governing the UK's airwaves and U.S copyright censorship please foward on this awareness video.

SOPA/PIPA has been shelved for now. It has not been vetoed or rejected, meaning it could come back at a later time. The war isn't over yet.

I am still sore about the Feds killing Megaupload. I will try to reupload some of those mixes I lost on a different client.

They killed Filesonic?

EDIT: I checked and a message is there saying "Our service can ONLY be used to upload and retrieve files you have uploaded personally".

Now it only functions as a digital locker. You can't share mixes with anyone on there now.
