Petitioning Beatport -
23 December 2012, at 09:23

Hey there!

It's not a secret that nowadays commercial stuff flooded everything, from stores to radio broadcast. Some time ago an Australian progressive house producer Luke Chable created a petition to Beatport in the sake of a better music sorting. Basically, it will move commercial stuff into two different sections. This action will not only help with searching music, but will also give small labels a weapon against big scene leaders. It's focused on progressive house, but imo all other styles will also win here.

I'm asking you to sign this (spam-free & no registration), and perhaps ask your friends to sign too, or spread it in some way.

Thanks :)

What would exactly be the advantage of these 2 new genres in your opinion?

Take a look at Beatport's progressive house top100:
http://www.beatport.com/genre/progressive-house/15/top-100
I won't sound proofless if i tell that more than a half of tracks there has nothing to do with progressive. "Rihanna - Where Have Been (Calvin Harris Remix)" or "Tom Staar - Kingdom".. Even "Scooter - 4AM" which i don't find in top now is labeled as progressive house. Scooter.. making prog! Of course the situation in trance top100 is better, that's why petition is focused on prog house. Advantages are obvious to me, if i want to find a good track which is progressive house / trance - i don't want any kind of electro/pop crap. That's the main advantage for me, when commercial goes into commercial :)

Just don't pay attention to those top 100s. I never do. If I want to find a track, I search on artist name. So I don't care to which genre it's labelled ;)

Sure! I only think that if there's some way to maybe do something better, why not to take part :)

Got my support :)

I agree that it can be hard to sort the commercial cheese from everything else, so any step - however small - to achieve that gets my vote

Hey guys,

There are two more petitions going on currently, they are focused on two problems in Russia. One is to allow bikes transportation in Moscow metro (is it allowed in your country?). One more is to start a reorganization of Russian slow-post. Of course, it's a free give, i will be glad if you can sign at your own free will. As usual - no registration and spam free.
