A week ago I decided to watch the new Hollywood blockbuster horror Quarantine.
I found it quite interesting, so I looked it up on imdb, and that's when I found out it's actually a remake of a 2007 Spanish movie called Rec. I read some of the reviews and it got me interested.
Well, last night I watched Rec with my roommates, and boy did I regret not watching it before the remake.
This low-budget Spanish movie managed to scare the shit out of me and my roommates, even though I already knew the story and knew exactly what was going to happen. Something that Quarantine couldn't achieve with all those expensive effects.
The story was better told, the acting was perfect, and the whole thing looked much more realistic than on Quarantine, thus making it way more terrifying.
Believe me I've seen lots of horror movies, but none of them ever managed to keep me awake for the whole night like this one.
If there are other horror fans here who plan to see Quarantine, please watch the original first. You will not regret it.
