Sega's blue blur turns 20 today! -
23 June 2011, at 16:47
Today is another monument in video gaming history. 20 years ago today, a small Tokyo-based entertainment company introduced a blue blur of a mascot, complete with his own console. We have witnessed him triumph time and again over an evil, gadget-loving, egotistical egg. I am talking of course about Sonic The Hedgehog! I can't wait to see what the future holds for the character that's my favorite color.

Hell Ya, Sonic was always cooler thann Mario :P
I remember playing the first one on Sega Master System, which I still have
Genesis era was the best IMO
I am glad that the new Sonic game is going back to 2D
A move that greatly benefited Mega Man as well, another one of my all time fav series

Unfortunately Sega was always ahead of its time
Game Gear owned the Game Boy but needed a nuclear powerplant
Dreamcast had Online multi when no one realized they would soon not be able to live without it

They are now reaping the benefits publishing for everyone, but I wish they would return to their former glory

LOL I have every Sonic game ever made.

With the new game, Sonic Generations, you can play as Modern Sonic in 3D or Classic Sonic in 2D.

Problem is, we have to wait until November for it to come out.

I wish they had Tails, Knuckles and Amy as playable characters so I could race my friends too.

My favorite 2D Sonic Game was Sonic The Hedgehog 2, while my favorite 3D one was Sonic Adventure 2: Battle.

What are some fond memories you have of the blue blur?
