This makes me a sad sad sad panda.

Wonder if it will be like this mess....

I cant believe Gatecrasher... one of the original places where Trance and progressive ruled and one of my all time favourtie events / clubs , is actually doing this.

This is why DJing is now getting such a horrid label..... :*(

Dear god, WTF is this?!?! This is horrible! :yell:

This has absolutely nothing to do with DJing anymore. Go fuck off to the O2 in London or something if you love Michael Jackson so much and just want to make a big show instead of playing quality music!

Oh shit, and people are enjoying this. A roadway to hell for a DJ job.

As someone who has been doing it for almost 2 decades and started when it took a lot of time to get good at, I am sad to see it go this way.

DJing used to be an art form and for some people, they could turn turntables into a musical instrument at times. Now days, anybody can grab a notebook computer, load up a DJ application and hit the play and sync buttons. No one tries to even lear about beat matching, harmonic mixing, reading the crowd or phasing tracks.

It is overrated now and it is really sad it has become that way.

So to further add to the smack to the scene, Paris Hilton has now been given a weekly residency at Amnesia @ Ibiza for each wednesday.

Yet another venue that was home to some of the biggest artists for over a decade is now doing this.

Well, it seems that money is starting to finally override talent. Want to be successful? Get some DJ software, learn how to push the sync button (or have someone just make a mix CD for you to play), throw a bunch of cash at a venue and your in!

What a truly sad turn of events lately...... :*(

I may actually have to vote this year just so I can do this. That poll is a joke anyway.

With her actually playing a residency now.. I wonder how high she will actually get on the list...

If she will get high on the list, will both DJ Mag and Amnesia recognize that the list did become a joke, or will they take it serious and will Amnesia think they were right with signing her?

I've always seen Amnesia as the greatest club of Ibiza. I haven't visted them all and the past few years there have come a few new ones, but from the ones I had visited, Amnesia was the best (club-wise, not policy-wise, cz they sell way too many tickets). But they have fallen now IMO.

I Agree. This is true.. they could react in "see? People love her and she is a great DJ..."

I get a bit sick feeling thinking about it.

But if they really do believe she's a great DJ, than they prove they don't have a clue at all anymore and there's no point going there nor pay any attention to them anymore. Maybe the reason also that Armin took his show away from there? Do they have a new board or something? They used to have the best club nights of the island with 'Armada Night' on Tuesdays and 'Cream' on Thursdays...

Yes I know. They were an amazing venue with top nights.

Maybe they figure that they can just go after the money instead of the true talent? Who knows.

Ye maybe, altho I dont believe Paris is cheap. I believe most truly good DJs are a lot cheaper.
