SOPA/PIPA awareness -
18 January 2012, at 14:36
As you man or may not know, many web-sites were blacked out today to raise awareness about SOPA and PIPA, two acts that threaten the freedom of the internet.

I have created a topic about this 2 months ago, you can read it here.

If these two acts pass, it would practically mean the end of TrancePodium and the internet as we know it.

To find out how you can act against these two acts, click here: http://americancensorship.org/

This is real folks. News reportings and commercials from both sides have appeared on TV concerning SOPA/PIPA.

It is IMPERATIVE that we all do something to keep these two bills from passing. If we fail, it could very well lead to the DOWNFALL of Trance Podium, Soundcloud, and other websites we use to spread trance music and our love for it!

Could we merge these two?

To further emphasize why we need to stop SOPA/PIPA, I should remind everyone that Trance Podium, even though it is created and maintained by Marjan, is run on a server based in the UNITED STATES.

I'm going to act against this! :yell:

Edit: Damnit, you have to be an American to be able to act :(

Not true. Google, Wikipedia and others are offering ways to allow non-Americans to contribute as well.

You can also contact your local State Department, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, or similar branch of government. Tell them you oppose SOPA and PIPA, and any similar legislation.

We should switch the main color of Trance Podium to black for a day or two (if you want).

One thing to note is that the white house is openly opposed to these bills stating

“We will not support legislation that reduces freedom of expression, increases cybersecurity risk, or undermines the dynamic, innovative global Internet,”

That's true. Still, a strong message needs to be sent, so they don't even think about doing anything like this in the future. However, I think they will keep trying until something like this finally passes.

Yeah, I hope it never happens, I must admit things seem to be getting more and more controlled in the USA. It does worry me sometimes as we often follow them (War on Drugs fucking idiots!) and I hope that we would never go down that route, I do think that people would take to the streets though in large numbers here.

Along with the recent bill that allows them to detain anyone for life without trail or conviction, I would be very worried to be a part of the USA at the moment.
