Oh man, I don't even know what to say. One of the my greatest nostalgias is of that animated 1987 children's movie "Brave Little Toaster." I saw this one so many times when I was in pre-school and early elementary school. It really is a fantastic movie, because it throws life at you as it actually is, only the form of appliances that can talk. In fact, the entire basis for the movie is to convey life's often nauseating realities in a cartoon form. It demonstrates that life goes in cycles, but maybe also interesting is how it subtly preaches that sometimes the simple things in life matter more than we first realize, and also that even our most cutting-edge gadgets will one day become obsolete and possibly thrown out like garbage. Kind of sad, in addition to the scary part. I wouldn't say this movie gave me "nightmares" , but it made me uneasy at several points. The freakiest scenes for me were when the old appliances were in that shop and they sang that really almost danceable, cheesy (but so catchy) dirge "It's Like A Movie" or when the cars were being obliterated at that junkyard near the very end. Even watching this as an adult, I get a little queasy to be honest lol. But I pity anyone who didn't see this when they were younger. It's one of my greatest childhood memories, even if it constantly played with the limits of your emotions on a relentless basis.
This scene turns to a fever pitch at around 2:00. Really dark stuff.
