Tiesto launches a restaurant -
4 May 2007, at 07:56
Dance music phenomenon Tiesto is set to open a restaurant in his native Netherlands. The Suburban Train hit maker, real name Tijs Verwest, will launch Asian fusion diner and club Cineac next month, in what was an old cinema on Amsterdam's Rembrandt Square. And some of the signature dishes will be named after Tiesto hits like Flight 643 and Traffic.

He says, "My chef is really creative. He's no big name or anything, but I really like him. He's currently creating an Adagio For Strings (Tiesto hit) soup or something like that. I've always been a big fan of food and if I wasn't a DJ now I'd be a chef. I love cooking."

I'll have 2 Adagios and one Lethal Industry please. Oh, and Suburban Train for desert.

errr to me... naming the dishes after songs is a bit.. cheesy yeah?  or am I the only one to think so?

I hope it does well for him though.  Opening a restaurant can be quite tricky.  Best of luck Tijs.

At a certain degree, yes it's cheesy but as long as the foods good!

Haha

Tiesto is a legend. I suppose he always will be. My fav tune of all time is Suburban Train. But I think he is just trying to make as much money as possible. I don't like the way he is going.

I agree R33, naming food after tunes is cheesy. I just get the impression he is trying to make as much money as possible as quickly as he can. I suppose you can't blame him. But to me trance music means more than just money. I just think he's cashing in on his fame. I suppose most people would do the same but I wish he'd just focus on the music.

You can't beat his In My Memory album. Bring back the old Tiesto. I'm sorry if everyone doesn't agree with me.

nope totally agree.  In My Memory was easily his best.  Outstanding piece of work.  Just Be was excellent as well.

I wish he was a bit more like armin who "does it for the music, not the ego's".

Tiësto is a great DJ / Producer, he just needs to focus back on it and not the cash.

lol, it's pretty cool, but I'd rather see him improving his musical skills, than to see him cooking...

All I can say is, I think he's doing what he want's, and have some fun while he does it! And yes, anyone who does something want to make money from it. Wouldnt you?

If you work with music all the time, you must do something else sometimes, maybe to get some new inspiration.

I wish him good luck!

he's got a bit of ATB Syndrome right now, breakout with an amazing record, almost too good for fans to handle, then concentrate on music and things in life you want to do, not necessarily all your fans, even if it costs you a bit of your crowd, he just rode the wave a bit longer until recently.

The dishes named after his tracks is a bit too much, but otherwise it sounds like a cool concept.
I say, go for it if he's enjoying himself.
