U.S. Elections are over. -

Well, the election is over now. Obama has won the presidential election here with well over the 270 needed electoral votes. The announcement was made around 11:00 PM (23:00) on November 4th.

I followed the election rather closely and was shocked to learn the outcome of some of the results (District of Columbia went 93% to Obama and 7% to McCain while Missouri went 49% to both Obama and McCain, Florida went to Obama.)

Aside from the presidential election, I also looked into some races for the U.S. Senate - mainly Alaska and North Carolina. Ted Stevens (R-Alaska) ended up winning even after his conviction on 7 felony counts by about 1000 votes (at least that's what it was at when I last checked this morning). Elizabeth Dole (R-North Carolina) ended up losing. Of course, that entire race left me appalled and disgusted. But that's just my personal opinion.

Finally an end to that conservative Republican non-sense.  Now time for some progress both nationally and internationally.

Agreed completely. Even some of my conservative friends were hopping on the Obama train. I can't wait for January 20, 2009.

Here's some news from Vermont politics: Vermont's "Liberty Union" party is no longer a political party because no candidate from it got the needed 5% of the vote needed to remain intact. Also, the incumbent Republican governor still remains in office for another two years, and its Democratic Republican house representative stays for another term.

Any news from other states?

Obama becomes President.

I'm very happy Obama won for a number of reasons. :)

Same here.

Apparently a bunch of college students here created a giant mob once Obama became President-Elect. Don't get me wrong, it was a peaceful mob and there wasn't anything bad going on, but...OH MY GOSH, IT WAS A MOB!!

Yeah, same where I go to school (Maryland.) There were about a thousand students who rushed into the mall and chanted and marched all over the campus and the outlying town. It was crazy! I brought my digital camera with me and took a few minutes of video.
