The instrumental tracks are saving the album. Album would be a winner if there was an instrumental versions available :D

Review time!

So, I finally got a chance to sit down, crank the volume for a bit and really dive into this album.

This one has gotten quite a lot of flack from the music community due to its mix of tracks and the large amount of radio focused vocal tracks. I must say it's definitely a change for Markus and his deep Coldharbour sound, however, I figured that it would still be full of class tracks and we would have nothing to worry about.

Well, heres my take on the album.

Starting off I was greeted by a nice intro track that sets a nice deeper style of mood. I definitely like what I was greeted with and figured out that this is going to be a great ride.

The second track brings it fully with a collaboration with Mr. Ferry Corsten and a re-make of a great classic track, "Loops & Tings". This was a monster and just hit it on all notes. Easily the best track on the album IMHO.

The next few tracks were nice. They were melodic, sounded good and flowed well. They were not traditional Markus style when it all comes down to it, but not bad, and I enjoyed them.

The tracks "Deep In The Night", "Caught", and "Sing Me Back To Life" were decent, middle of the road tracks. Nothing bad, but yet, nothing to blow my socks off either. I can listen to them with each play of the album and not be disappointed.

The two tracks "Soul Seeking" and "Don't Leave Before The Sunrise" were really nice tracks. I really was enjoying them only to find them being 2:41 and 3:11 long respectively. This broke my heart as they were class tracks and really could of been wonderful to have a full 5-6 minutes out of each.

After this far through the album, I was trying to figure out what everyones issue was. Yea, it was not the old Markus, but it was not a bad album.

Then, the next few tracks came on.

Damnit.

Here they are. Those tracks people have been complaining about. I now see why too, as they are not that great.

"Universe Is Mine", "Until It's Gone" and "Absolution" are very commercial and very radio style tracks. Now, before you think I do not care for them just because they were meant for radio stations, its not that alone. These tracks just are not that great. They are all vocal tracks, but feel very cheesy in a way. They are not absolutely horrid tracks by any means, but I would be skipping over them on a re-listen. They just do not fit the bill on a Markus Schulz Album.

If this is what Markus has to produce in order to get gigs, I feel for us on a whole as the people who put on shows and events have completely lost touch with what we like to hear.

Sadly the title track "Scream" takes a really great musical track that is a good mover and puts some dodgy vocals over the top of it. I would love a instrumental version.

Two of the last tracks on the album "Digital Madness" and "Finish Line" are really good and end the album on a good note. Proper pumping, hands in the air tracks.

In the end, the album has a little bit for everyone. If you like radio style tracks, or if you like more club hands in the air stuff, the album and its 19 tracks should suffice and leave you with a smile on your face.

Is it Classic Markus Schulz? No, its not. However its nothing horrid when it all boils down to it. The production values are top notch and you can tell Markus put some real time and effort into each track.

I would suggest a listen to the whole album and see what you think before passing judgment.

In the end, it scores :hp: :hp: :hp: out of five possible.
