Label Page Editing Issues -
24 January 2013, at 09:46
Hi there,

I contacted Trance Podium using the form about some issues with editing label pages, and haven't gotten a response, so I thought I might get a quicker response here.

Suggestions (in order of priority):

1. Give label page owners option to edit label page image after first upload
2. Give label page owners option to delete the page
3. Allow label page owner to approve changes made by people who did not start the label page instead of just Trance Podium - a two-step approval system

Hope you guys can make these features available to us as soon as possible, so that we can make information on our label pages as accurate as possible.

Regards,
Angie.

Agreed with option to reupload the picture!
Don't agree on deleting the page, this is action to be done only by staff as the database belongs to them.
Half-agree on two step approval system, which shouldn't then affect any other labels/artists/pages. If artist released with several labels, this shouldn't make any label to claim rights on artist page edits.

Who do you mean with label page owner?

Yay! Responses!

By label page owner, I mean the people who create a label page on Trance Podium. Though I guess it does make a grey area since the person who created the page doesn't necessarily own the label itself, and are not obligated to continue updating the page.

Mainly, though, as mentioned and placed in the first priority, I would really appreciate it if we were able to edit label images.

Maybe, for deleting pages, it should be like editing pages, where people who wish to request a page deletion for any reason (e.g. label no longer exists, duplicate page), should be able to submit the request to be reviewed by Trance Podium staff for approval? Maybe a deletion request option in the editing interface. But tell me if this already exists and I can step to it, because I created a page I'd like to delete.

When a page needs to be deleted, I think morrow has done it like this already, you can edit and change the title to DELETE, and write in the Description that it needs to be deleted. Like this I can see the deletion request. I check our "Changes Queue" several times a day.

As for the possibility to edit images, I think it's a valid point and I will contact our technical Admin, Marjan, about this.

Concerning the label page owners, they shouldn't have extra authorities, because in 99.99% of the times, the one who created it, doesn't own this label. Most entries are done by Juno Download, where we have an agreement with that all their trance releases will automatically come in our Trancepedia database. So by far the most entries come from them. And what's left come from me or other members. Most labels haven't found their way to Trancepedia yet.

Hey guys. Some interesting suggestions there, thank you for that.

We were thinking about giving labels/artists/managers ownership over their pages, and your suggestions in that direction are completely valid.

However, if we are to give someone the full control over a page, we would need some form of verification that they actually are the person they claim to be.

For example, in order to give page ownership of Armada's label page, the user would need to be registered with an @armada.com e-mail address, or prove to us in another way that they actually work for the label.

Does this sound Ok?

Thank you Remco and Marjan for your responses.

And yes, I definitely agree with how people who register with the right e-mail should be able to claim ownership of the page! :)

Looking forward to see these changes announced in the announcement forum!
