Sasha, James Zabiela, and Zed Bias are just some of the names in music lending their support to the charity Campaign Against Living Miserably this Christmas by providing exclusive tracks for its online advent calendar.
Over 24 artists have given CALM tracks which will be exclusively available from http://www.notanothercrapxmas.com .
The site shows a spinning Christmas tree made up of numbers and snowflakes. Each number represents a day, 1 for Dec 1st, which will link into a free gift. Sasha’s ‘Coma’ Ki Theory Remix will be included in the first week; with music / games and videos available each day … all the way to 24th Dec providing visitors with at least 24 free downloads if they visit each day!
“As soon as I heard about C.A.L.M. and the great work that they do, I knew instantly that I wanted to be involved. It is a privilege to have one of my tracks selected and I'm very proud to be a part of this project. I hope you all enjoy it!” Goldryder
“Superb idea, best wishes for Christmas 2007 and a very happy New Year! A very worthwhile cause, here's to a fantastic 2008.” Rumble Strips & The Fratellis
Daily visitors can amass a music collection equivalent to a free double album with nearly 2 hours of tracks ranging from ballads to dance.
AND ALL IN THE SPIRIT OF CHRISTMAS!
There are no subscriptions, no enforced data capture, no fee to be paid. The charity wants to increase awareness of its work, aiming to reduce suicide in young men.
Radio One’s Annie Mac has personally recommended 17 of the tracks. Video footage includes David Baddiel and Stephen Merchant backstage at CALM’s comedy night, and interviews with artists such as Rob Tissera, Killa Kela and New Young Pony Club.
The site and campaign was the brainchild of Catapult Digital, who have created and designed the site gratis. Ben Hedges, MD of Catapult said “We hope that people will show their support and appreciation of the project and artists by making a donation to CALM to help them continue to help save the lives of young men”
Founder and director of CALM, Jane Powell added “We’ve been given some brilliant tracks from both signed and unsigned artists. It’s a great site and real antidote to the stress of Christmas. Day one begins with one of Annie Mac’s recommendations, Dan le Sac and Scroobius Pip’s Angles. A corker of a track.” http://www.notanothercrapxmas.com
