Discover Records - part of the stable of labels within the RecoverWorld Group - presents ’Live As… 5’, the fifth in the innovative album series, mixed entirely live and club fresh.
For this slice, the hugely successful Live As roadshow rocked up at the 9th annual PlanetLove festival, in association with Radio 1. Up for the challenge this time is a local lad, Belfast born DJ, Greg Downey. Having played at top notch UK clubs including Lush, Inside Out, Goodgreef and Gatecrasher, Ministry of Sound resident John Askew was very quick to praise Greg as one of the shining stars of the UK trance scene. With consistent, high quality productions, Greg’s music really stands out when in a club environment and his skills on the decks make him a truly versatile DJ with ability that really translates with this mix.
2007 has been a bumper year for Greg, with remixes including Tears of Hope by Deems and Greg’s hugely popular Heaven Scent remix by Bedrock, both played and praised by Paul Van Dyk, Tiesto, Armin Van Buuren, Ferry Corsten and Eddie Halliwell to name but a few. Heaven Scent was recently featured as Eddie Halliwell's "One For The Weekend" on Radio 1, the new Cream Ibiza 2007 CD, and also the new Ministry of Sound comp.
A quick history lesson: After the huge success of ‘Live as Fucking Fuck’ in Jan 2005, the ‘Live As…’ series was born. The back-to-basics feel can truly be heard from the thumping beats to the passionate and enthusiastic crowd – it’s as close as you will get to the club experience without actually climbing into your dancing trousers and stepping onto the dancefloor, with crowd noises and everything left in, warts and all.
Previous releases in the series have been critically acclaimed including twice Album of the Month in Mixmag. Discuss Article (2) |
