The world’s leading Sensation is set to return to Etihad Stadium on New Year’s Eve, this time with a brand new show that will see the iconic Melbourne venue transformed into a stunning underwater world called “The Ocean of White”. This edition of Sensation will show a larger and more expensive show, bigger set up and better than the first, which debuted in Australia in a spectacular fashion last year, presenting “The Oak of Love” theme, centred around a 32 metre high, inflatable tree in the centre of the stadium, which housed a massive lighting rig and a revolving DJ console.

The sold out event attracted 40,000 revelers from all over Australia as well as international holiday makers, with everyone embracing Sensation’s legendary “white only” dress policy.

“The Ocean of White” has toured across 11 European capitals, including Amsterdam, Prague, Madrid, Copenhagen and Dusseldorf, attracting over 250,000 people.

The show boasts a 160 metre stage, covering the length of the football field, and guests will party the night away amongst 48 enormous fountains blasting water against the roof from a raised canal, all to the beats of cutting edge music provided by top international and local DJs.

Sensation is an experience like no other, and is fast becoming one of Australia’s most hotly anticipated events.

The heaving dance floor, this year divided by an 80 metre riff, will be surrounded by an extraordinary dance, lights and special effects show, and creatures from the deep all around, plus the traditional secret highlight, to celebrate the New Year in style.

Sensation’s inaugural event was held in Amsterdam back in 2000, and this multimedia spectacle now sells  40,000 tickets each year to visitors from across the globe within hours. Innovative staging techniques, lightshows and lasers, video projections and live cameras, not to mention the fact that every single reveller is dressed head-to-toe in white, all help to create an atmosphere that makes Sensation the phenomenon it is. The spectator genuinely becomes part of the strange and alluring dream world, and the only way to fully appreciate the surreal ambience of the event is to experience it first-hand – along with many thousands of others at the Hallenstadion!

Nine years after the world’s leading dance event debuted in the Amsterdam ArenA, other cities across Europe and the world have discovered the unforgettable experience that is Sensation. In 2007, the event was staged in seven European countries, from Belgium and Germany to Poland and the Czech Republic, and was held in 12 countries worldwide in 2008 and even 19 in 2009.

Testament to SENSATION’S worldwide reputation as the best dance event is the fact that over 18,000 tickets to the Melbourne NYE event have been sold, prior to any line-up announcement.
