Fresh from being placed a hugely respectable no.16 in the DJ Mag Top 100 Poll, 2009 has been quite a year for Bobina. Whether its launching his flagship event Bobina Extended, remixing the Freemason’s latest hit Heartbreak (Make Me A Dancer) ft Sophie Ellis Bextor or headlining with Tiësto in front of 8,000 people, Bobina is one of the biggest names in dance music right now.
To celebrate the success of the last year, Bobina’s artist album Again and the re-rubbed format Again Remixed are now available for the first time together as a 2 Disc Special Edition physical release on Maelstrom Records.
In 2007 Bobina began work on his third artist album Again, having already dropped one single from the album Lighthouse featuring Dutch uber vocalist Elles de Graaf which effortlessly opens the album and with another Slow, a cover version of Kylie Minogue’s chart topper about to drop, things look set to explode for Russia’s leading superstar DJ. Elsewhere on the album Trance vocalist du-jour Tiff Lacey lets lose on Where Did It Go, a sure fire peak time stormer, whilst the tempo moves up with tracks like Spinning with its Café De Mar-esque riff and the aptly titled Go Get Vodka which pours liquid adrenaline across the dance floor. In true Trance fashion the album rounds up with the back-to-mine laziness of That’s What I Did For You and finishes off with nicely with one last burn in the shape of The Last He Said. Again has sold over a phenomenal 60,000 copies since its release in Russia.
Again – Remixed brings together some of the dance scene’s biggest names to create their personal interpretations of Bobina’s work, remixing their favourite tracks from the album into innovative, white hot interpretations. “If you ask me to name the most talented producer in Russia, first who comes to my mind is Bobina” said one of the top DJs of the world, Ferry Corsten. Mr Corsten worked on the track Invisible Touch that also became the official anthem of the massive Kazantip 2009 festival, already garnering plays by the likes of Armin van Buuren, Tiësto and Above & Beyond to name a few.
Gareth Emery, one of the leading British DJs from the scene has picked Bobina’s Time & Tide, whilst renowned Swedish producer and DJ prodigy Markus Schossow has remixed Go Get Vodka, that sounds like it’s a soundtrack for what is definitely not your first drink of the evening. Dutchman First State, one of the most upfront artists from the genre adds some hope to the sound of Where Did You Go?, giving an uplifting vibe to the original. Other names lending hand include Norwegian Orjan Nilsen, Polish musician Paul Miller, Heatbeat, Sean Tyas, Genix, Global Illumination and Sensorica, who all contribute their re-works to complete Again-Remixed.
Bobina - Again – Special Edition will be available to buy on 23rd November from all leading outlets.
