claudia cazacuMoving to the UK from Romania 7 years ago Claudia Cazacu soon found herself at home in the London club scene. Attending events week after week it wasn’t long before she decided her destiny was a life behind the decks.

Launching her career in 2006 Claudia Cazacu has in a short space of time propelled herself to become the most anticipated new DJ on the scene.

She recently got into the spotlight with her latest production, the collaboration with Audrey Gallagher "Free Fallin".

Trance Podium's newest interviewer BirdMan caught up with Claudia for a small chat.

Miss Claudia, thanks for doing this interview. Sied van Riel mentioned in an earlier interview that the two of you were working on the follow up to "Contrasts". He is always hillarious with his replies, so what was it like working with with him & when can we expect this highly anticipated follow up?

As a producer, Sied is excellent. We went back to the studio for the Contrasts follow-up and came out with a great track which has both mine and the dutch influences. All I can say is that it will be released soon. The rest, you just have to wait and see. As a person... he smokes way too much? And he makes me smoke too when I am in the studio. He is a very great guy, down to earth and he knows what he wants.

Moving to more important matters now, your favourite food? Tongue out

I absolutely love sea food. I could live on fish forever. I actually eat so much fish, I might become one soon.

Your surname, always a tongue twister for me, I apologize Smile What would its origins be?

I am originally from Romania, the vampires land, so you'd better watch out. I moved to London 11 years ago and now this is my home. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else in the world. Or maybe Ibiza, or Amsterdam, or LA... the list goes on...

If we had to mention your influences that have brought you into this genre, what would they be?

I love Armin and Tiesto. I used to listen to their music way back and be fascinated by it. My influence comes from the atmosphere and the crowd in all kinds of environments.

Looking back, what would some of your personal favourites of Sied van Riel and other producers be?

I could mention quite a few. I like Sander van Doorn, Marcus Schossow and really got into Tom Colontonio productions lately. My favourite Sied van Riel track is MME.

A venue that you would love to spin at?

It's my ambition to play at Global Gathering and Sensation White. The big arenas allow certain sound and atmosphere that can only be achieved at this type of events.

Through your experiences in this industry, do you perhaps have an interesting tale for us, like maybe some male fans stalking you or something? Tongue out

The best story must be the one from Vietnam. I finished my 3 weeks tour in China and flew straight after to Vietnam for a gig, with no sleep. I only had few hours before the gig so I thought it would be a good idea to rest for a bit. I fell into this deep sleep and only woke up 15 minutes before the gig. And we have to take into consideration that I need at least 2 hours to get ready before I get on the stage. So, with no make up on I put my glasses on and rushed to the club. I was still yawning when I started my set, but then few red bulls later I was flying. As for male stalking, I am practicing martial arts, so no problems here. And also, I told you I am from the vampires land... you don't want to mess with me.

On A State of Trance 393, we heard your tune featuring the lovely vocals of Audrey Gallagher. Are there any other trance or non-trance vocalists you would love to work with?

Me and Audrey get on really well. She has a great voice, I always say she's got the voice of an angel. You'll be seeing a lot more vocal projects from me in the future so stay tuned.

Aside from the follow up to "Contrasts", what could your fans expect from you this year?

I have a lot of new releases coming out soon on 2Play, Armada and few more labels. I am 24/7 in the studio when I am not flying around the world for gigs, so there will be plenty more to come. Quatrain1 and Quatrain2 is released on 2Play in April.

Miss Claudia, I feel lucky, so may I have your mobile number please?

911, always here in emergencies.
