X Cabs Neuro 2009 Remixes

There is no doubt Hooks most famous release from its entire catalogue is X Cabs Neuro written and produced by label owner and Tec House, Techno and Trance supremo Chris Cowie. Neuro was written  in December 1992 but sat on the shelf for two years  years because the labels distributor at the time didn't think the track was good enough for release. Thank-fully when  Cowie decided to ditch the labels pressing and distribution deal he was able to release the track and the rest is history as they say.

Now after its initial 1995 release and subsequent 1999 remixes this undisputed classic piece of trance has been remixed for 2009. This is the first part in a series of two remix releases. The next instalment will be released sometime during the first quarter of 2010.

First up with their take on Neuro is BK also known as The Black Russian and Tristan Ingram.  BK requires  little introduction.  His skills as a producer and DJ mostly in the hard trance scene are legendary but his talents stretch much further as you can hear from his collaborative mix under his Black Russian alias.  Tristan Ingram is a DJ and producer well known in the London and Ibiza scenes.  His and the Black Russians recent bootleg remix of La Roux 'In For the Kill' has seen massive DJ support proving the team can hit all the right buttons.

BK's solo remix leans heavily on his roots sound.  Its a highly charged roller-coaster of a ride pretty much guaranteed to satisfy all those who prefer their trance a little harder.  BK does credit to the 1999 remixes. He maintains the integrity of the original remixes, particularly the emotional element.  But all over the mix you can hear the BK stamp in every nook and cranny.  A guaranteed spine tingler for those peak time moments.

Tristan Ingram and The Black Russian's 10 Years on mix clearly shows how two different musical backgrounds can be fused together effectively. Shuffled house rhythms blend effortlessly over trance synth lines and bass patterns. Together they turn out an excellent Trance – House  crossover mix brimming with confidence,  mood and melody that could easily find a home in a range of DJs hard drives. This mix has already been supported on BBC radio 1 from Judge Jules.
