Stevie Cripps - Soul Fire (Inc John O'Callaghan Remix) -

Early support from Armin van Buuren, Paul van Dyk, Sean Tyas and Adjusted Music's head honcho, The Thrillseekers.

Despite the thudding kick drum, at first it’s quite hard to tell whether we are going to be dealing with a banging trancer or something quite melodic – it could go either way. All becomes clear though as a low, rumbling bass comes in, paired with some techy effects. A nice stabby synth, uplifting lead and lots of effects to build the tension. All things considered, ‘Soul Fire’ is a definite contender for livesets and that all important radioshow support.

JOC's remix starts as it means to go on, eye-watering kick and that signature O’Callaghan style of making vocals in to a real feature of the track. This time around, the break is hugely uplifting, dropping off at just the right time to let FX and a kickroll do all the talking as we approach the inevitable drop. Perfect for peaktime sets, proving that 138bpm is indeed alive and well.

Stepping away from trance and in to something completely different, Dutchman Steve Mulder has given ‘Soul Fire’ a progressive/tech house makeover. Ice cool percussion, pulsing bassline, vocal slices and glitchy effects all vie for attention as your senses are pulled in to this mix.
