The Electrik Playground Launch new Music Label -
2 March 2009, at 16:24
THE ELECTRIK PLAYGROUND formed in early 2008 as a monthly event at Club Mission in Leeds.  After just 12 months of parties it has quickly expanded into a multifunctional music company incorporating artist management, national and international events and a record label.

The record label's first 2 singles get released on 3rd March exclusively to Beatport and on other download portals 31st March.  EPM001 comes courtesy of Geordie wonder kid Mark Maitland.  Mark’s recent tunes have caught the attention of some major players as diverse as Carl Cox, Krafty Kuts and The Utah Saints.  The Utahs were so impressed with his music, they asked him to work closely alongside them co writing and engineering some of their new productions, including remixing the new Girls Aloud single "Loving Kind".

Taking time away from engineering, Mark has produced 2 original tracks which truly show his musical diversity.  First up is “Lazy Mondays” - a peak time record with a subtle yet hypnotic riff that definitely crosses musical boundaries.  After the initial promo mail out, Dave Dresden said he loved Lazy Mondays so much he requested to remix it.  His exclusive mix will be added to the package as soon as its completed.

Next up is “Woodpecker” - a dubby, twisted techno bomb with deep bass and delay driven riff patterns all knitted together with clever percussion and tight rising LFOs. A real dance floor destroyer!

EPM002 is a double A side from northern legend Adam Sheridan.  Rocketing into this years DJ mag poll at number 53, the last 12 months have seen Adam travel to every corner of the globe.  Sheridans recent productions have been supported by everyone from Paul Van Dyk to Laidback Luke to Ben Simms.  In the October issue of Mixmag not 1 but  2 of Adams tracks were featured in the top 10 summer tracks.  The package represents the typical Sheridan Sound - big drums, heavy basslines and breakdowns to send shivers down your spine.

Monkey King is a progressive house bomb, the the groove being dominated with punchy bass and heavy synth patterns. Space Face is a combination of tight drums crazy percussion and a bassline to shake any dance floor.

Keep an eye out for imminent future releases coming from the likes of Riley & Durrant, Sharooz and Tim Weeks!
