if u go on youtube, i remembr lookin at how a guy took a 1/4 note basic sine wave and created a phat kick drum by using the pllug-ins and the program Albeton Live. Was pretty impressive. All he did was film his screen and changed every nob (there were 120 or so) one-by-one as if it was rehearsed and you began to hear the kick come through after a while until finally it was gold.

I've created bass sounds that have impressively come close to a kick drum, but nothing that I could use at the moment.

I like to take one wave (sine or triangle is most popular because they are non-harmonic) with a very low note, and strap a low pass filter on it, then raise the resonance. This seems to make it less tonal and gives it a thumping drive it to it. No attack. Then adjust the other waveform settings how you like. But again, that's probably nothing close to a workable kick, but it's something I've worked on.
