So I can't afford any equipment right now really, I do have some software though like Deckadance and Ableton Live.

Would I be able to DJ and make mixes with Ableton alone or do I need more? Maybe save up for at least an actual mixer and use it along with the program? Comments appreciated.

yeah recorded mixes... I was actually looking at Torq today on the site, and read some reviews on it, I'd really like to buy an inexpensive DJ mixer

Yes, you can definitely use Ableton to record mixes with.  t is pretty much the industry standard for doing so, and its very powerful.  I use it for some radio shows and podcasts.  Its pretty amazing.  Its even better f you have a MiDi controller for it.  That way you physically control the knobs and faders.

i use a Numark "total control" midi mixer, and Numark cue software, you can stream to a radio server straight from the program, so no messing around with added software like simplecast,
(which messes up my laptop!.. bloomin' Vista!!)
you can also record mp3 and CD image files straight from the program too..
i use it for streaming my radio shows and is top notch for sound quality, i stream at 160kbps with no probs at all..
the total control is very responsive, and works sweet with my vista bassed laptop, unlike some other midi mixers out there.. plus the best thing agout the numark total control pakage, is that it only costs around £150.. which with what ya getting for it, a Bargin!...
