Remcommendation 001: Megän Fair -
1 May 2016, at 19:59
Going to start a new serie here. Not periodic, but just when I feel I have to recommend somebody or something. And I'll try not to 'Remcommend' the obvious, but stuff I think not many people know. I hope you will all enjoy my 'Remcommendations'.

I borrowed the name 'Remcommendation' from Tim Stark, PR agent and huge help for our site, amongst other things, the 'The Track That...' series he does exclusively for us. He came up with this name when I 'Remcommended' him the artist I'm going to 'Remcommend'' in this 1st episode.

Ok, so the first 'Remcommendation': Megän Fair. A French female DJ/producer/singer who I had never heard of till that night, the 19th of March 2016 in Paris. She did the opening set and I was an instant fan. Her set was so amazingly good, I was gutted she had to stop after less than 1.5 hours. Really nice progressive house and trance. She didn't go the easy road, but a risky one with many unknown tracks and artists. How brave she was, even got more proven by the set after her, somebody who only played big electro house and trouse hits and what everybody appeared to love. But Megan, she was so much better and really surprised me. That's what I love the most with live performances and prerecorded mixes, the surprise factor. She tought me some great music I had never heard before.

Since then I started following her, chatted with her regularely and last week I listened to her radioshow live, called Funfair Radioshow, every 4th Friday of the month at 21:00 on Pure.fm. And that show was pretty much the same. Not track-wise, but amazingness-wise! Even though she didn't think herself it was the best episode she ever made, but I loved it! Again she made me learn some new great progressive tracks that I didn't know yet.

Besides DJing, she also produces. Her most famous track is her collaboration with Roddy Reynaert called 'Drive Blind', which was released on the mixcompilation album Perfecto Ibiza 2015. And if that isn't enough, she also sings. Her latest track, still an ID in her set that I saw in Paris is with her own vocals.

UPDATE:
On the 10th of April her 2nd track, Megän Fair & Roddy Reynaert - Human, has been released through Avanti/Black Hole Recordings! Download, stream and listen to the preview here.

Anyway, I can continue to 'Remcommend' her, but listen for yourself by clicking the links below!

Interesting idea here. Glad that you are taking a look at lesser known artists. Considering how many more known ones are becoming more and more dissapointing, I think it's always good to look deeper.

I agree and I'm so happy I went to Paris for this event and been able to see her live. I mean, obviously Sean Tyas was the highlight of the night, but if for no matter what reason he wouldn't have been able to come after all and she would play a 2nd set instead of him, the night would've been just as great. I hope you will have a listen to some of her stuff. I think the progressive side of you will like it :)

I already have an idea for the next episode of 'Remcommendation' as well, just need the time to write something. It is related to this one as it's a track that she played during her set in Paris. Completely unknown, but I love it and can't get enough of it :)

I'm just finishing up listening to the second episode, and I was able to listen to these first two episodes. Megan's music so far kinda gives me this underground vibe; good, deep progressive tunes. Very good to listen to while concentrating on work or just relaxing. I like the fact there's no talking, just the occasional jingle, which is how I prefer most deep-genre sets to go. But yeah, time to catch up on a year's worth of episodes at work! Thanks for the recommendation, Remco.

Great, thanks for the feedback :)

I'm so glad I've been able to help her get her track signed. Guess my contacts at Black Hole pays out :)

Thank YOU for listening :)

That's the vibe I like every 4th Friday of the month. :) Only problem at the moment is that the radiostation her show is broadcasted on, Pure.FM, doesn't work anymore since 2 months. Hope it'll get fixed soon.

More to follow :)
