Hello peeps -

Hello everybody !

I'm Matt, I'm 18 and I'm currently living in England right now for study reasons. I am originally french.
I'm coming directly from the Hardstyle scene. (dunno if you know this genre :p ). Anyway, I started to listen to Trance 4 years ago and fell in love with it, I also really love the older Classic Trance. I moved out of the Hardstyle scene because I didn't like the musical direction it was going to. So I decided to search for a Trance forum, and I must admit that I am pretty amazed by this forum, it is neat, clear and lovely.
I'm also a producer for 5 years now and I just recently started to produce Trance (which is really hard to produce in my opinion).
Anyway, just to tell that I'm here for keeping in touch with the Trance scene, lookings for production tips and spending a nice time on this forum with you guys ! :)

Matt.

Welcome to TrancePodium, Matt! :)

I checked out your soundcloud profile, looks like you cover a wide range of genres in there. I particularly like your prog and minimal stuff.

Looking forward to seeing you on the forums!

Thanks Marjan :) & Merci Remco.

I've got a question, is it normal that the forum looks a bit... Empty ? Not content wise but people wise, it seems that there are a lot of topics/discussions, for not many people ?

I know, it used to be much more crowded. Where sometimes there's not a single member active at the moment, before there were always 5-20 members active at any time. We are suffering a lot from the rage that is called Twitter :( Even tho people think they can discuss directly with the artists there, but not really cz the artists don't even look at most mentions they get, they still prefer posting things there over posting them on a forum nowadays. We're trying hard to persuade (new) members to visit our forum with posting articles and other interesting topics through posting the links on FB and twitter as well, with not much result unfortunately. We also organize annual things like a DJ Top 50, TP Awards, a Top 20 tracks mix and an anniversary celebration on AH.fm, and all those things attract many voters and listeners, I think they all are very successfull, but the attracted people, don't stay.

Yeah, I saw you had quite a lot of things going on. Such a shame that there's few people left, it's a really good forum and website. I know I've just arrived, but if you need help for anything, feel free to ask :)

Welcome, Matt! People prefer to talk indeed on twitter or on facebook nowadays. Also because these sites are fully functional (and often free) on mobiles. I don't use twitter and i dislike facebook for piece-of-shit interface and moneymaking, that's why i prefer forums. But go explain this to biggest part of the world. A tough stuff.

Yeah true, I use Twitter and Facebook, which is good to follow the news of artists. But as you said, you'll never talk to them. And they'll never beat forums!

The increasing popularity of social networks plays a big role in the demise of forums, and sadly, we're seeing more and more once very active online communities closing their doors each day because of this. There's nothing essentially wrong in this, the internet evolves and new trends emerge. We have to adapt to that.

For some people though (including me, and a few others here, as you could see from the comments), forums will always be a better discussion platform. I like that they're more intimate and I'm happy to say that TrancePodium is a place where I met and got to know a lot of interesting and cool people.

So as long as there's at least one active member on TP, we'll never close. I can promise that. :)

Thanks again for joining the family!

By the way, we could use all the help we can get to get this place back to its prime. So inviting friends, participating on the forums, writing content (reviews, interviews, etc.), sharing articles, or contributing in any other way is most welcome.

Reading the comments in this topic gives me hope again. So again, welcome Matt, great way to join the forums! :D

To add something about the intimacy on this forum. I've met people in real that I know from Twitter and Facebook as well, but when I meet them at events, it's just saying hi, talking for 5 minutes and that's about it. Pretty shallow. I also met 4 people from TrancePodium in real and we hung out a whole day/night or even several days/nights together. THAT's the difference :)

And for real discussions, forums are much better. You don't have to put your opinion within 140 characters :)

I can't agree more sir ! :)
I can't see how you can seriously meet new people on facebook & twitter. Forums are much more efficient and easy.

It just seems that often people do not stick for some reason. Often you see someone new join, and be active for a while, and then suddenly dissapear, only to never see or hear from them again. All we need is a few people to stay active, and all will be fine. Community wise this forum is great, no people with rotten attitudes as on so many other forums, facebook, etc. I can even say I made friends here who I talk to outside of forums too, and even share hobbies with. Of course sometimes opinions can differ, but in the end it works out, and it's a great place to be.

So welcome, and I hope you enjoy your stay!
