Some people know I’ve been defending Rapidshare up until even last Sunday. How well their filemanager worked etc. In the last few days a lot has happened that I’ve decided to leave Rapidshare and move to Megaupload.

I will try explain in short. I had over 1,100 uploads storaged at Rapidshare. It took me over 2 years to get to that amount. When I started over there the storage period (period the file is still storaged after the last download) was 90 days. Some time ago, they changed the storage period to 60 days. That made things already a lot more difficult for me and to with the amount of files I had storaged there, I had to download 10-15 files every day to keep them working. But that wasn’t a problem for me, I did it with pleasure.

Last Tuesdaymorning though I found out that suddenly about 300 of my files were deleted and I saw that it was exactly the files that fell outside a storage period of 30 days. I took contact with Rapidshare immediately, telling them the files were deleted and it were the files that fell outside the storage period of 30 days. Even tho their website even said it should be 90 days again. They came with excuses that it might be files with copyrighted material, even tho I said it didn’t contain this and explicitly said again and again it were files that fell outside the storage period of 30 days. I’ve asked 3 times if they change back my storage period, but without answer. They said that they could help me with sending at least one link from a deleted file, so they could look into it why it has been deleted.

Today I found out another 5 of my files have been deleted and again files that fell outside the 30 days storage period. I checked the website again, and now it says that free account members have a storage period of 30 days. So without any notification (they used to notify their clients about these changes before), without answering my questions, they changed the storage period into 30 days. So even with knowing what the problem was, they tried to keep me for a fool saying it might’ve been because of copyright violations. I’ve been pissed off so much about this, that I haven’t been taken serious for one moment and the fact that a storage period of 30 days is simply too short for me (I can’t keep up with it anymore to keep the files working) I’ve decided to quite Rapidshare and move over to Megaupload.

I know some of you will like that, Megaupload doesn’t have the waiting time like Rapidshare has, but I always stayed at Rapidshare because of their well working filemanager.
Megaupload certainly has improved that part as well the last few years and they still have a storage period of 90 days. Even if it hasn’t been downloaded for a longer period (what has happened with a few of my files that I still have storaged there), the file still hasn’t been deleted.

What does this mean for you. I will have to upload all my files again and this will take me some time. In the meanwhile I will try to keep as many Rapidshare files working as possible, but little by little, less and less files will be working. In the meanwhile, when you want to download one of my uploads that don’t work anymore (most of them are the Intuition Radio Shows, A State Of Trance shows, Corsten’s Countdowns and the Tiësto livesets) please let me know and I will upload those first.

I will do my best to make things go as smoothly as possible, but like I said, I will need some time. Next week I will be gone for a week, but I will start right away when I have returned.

Good i like  Megaupload better then Rapidshare

Plus, Megaupload has a 45 second wait period (25 for members) compared to Rapidshare's 60.  You did the right thing, Rem.

Depends on how big the file is, it could've been also 120 seconds at Rapidshare. Plus you had to wait in between the downloads as well.

They apologized and they offered me a free RapidPro account for 30 days for the inconvenience.
I accepted the RapidPro account for 30 days, but I'm still leaving hehe

Have to say i'm pretty pleased about this news... big fan of Megaupload.

Yeah I had gone off of Rapidshare a long while ago and much prefer megaupload.

I love both mediafire and zippyshare because they don't have a waiting period whatsoever.

I don't even know what is the difference between those 2 websites lol. All I know is that I will continue to dowload sets from Trancepodium.com

Mediafire:
Pros:
1.  You can download multiple files at the same time from the site.
2.  Fast
3.  No Waiting Periods between songs
4.  Files NEVER get deleted (unless you do it yourself)
5.  You can password protect files to control who downloads them.
Cons:
1.  Free members can only store files that are no bigger than 100MB.
2.  Often, you will have to click through 2 or 3 ads to get to your download.

Megaupload:
Pros:
1.  Megaupload has a rule where if a file has not been download for 90 days, they delete it, but it is VERY RARE that they enforce this.
2.  You can store files that are no larger that 1 GB (1,024 MB)
3.  You can use it to email files to people.
4.  You can password protect files to control who downloads them.
Cons:
1.  Unless you are downloading your own files, you often have to wait for a Megaupload download to finish before you start another one.  (there are some instances where you might get lucky and get a 2nd file download).
2.  Often, you have to solve a CAPTCHA to download the file (not really a big deal.)
3.  When you want to download a file, you have to wait 45 seconds (25 for free members) before you can download it.
4.  Sometimes, one or two ads may pop up

Gotta say, great decision. Megaupload is only site where it is actually possible to find something that isn't few days old. Also, good speed and little waiting time

zshare's better we use it for our listen again feature as it has an embedded player that automatically plays  the audio file!

Rapidshare is making a fool of themselves even more now. The waiting time is now over 5 minutes! And that's excluding the waiting period between 2 downloads!

But I've moved already about 700 files over to Megaupload Only about 450 left to do

It's like they don't want people to use their site.

But who cares about free users, I guess.
